Say it ain't so! 😳

Series about ‘swinging Mormon wives’ could be coming to Hulu

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A new docuseries about wives in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are also “swingers” may be coming to Hulu, according to Deadline.

The new series, titled “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” is currently in the works, according to Rob Mills, EVP, Unscripted & Alternative Entertainment at Walt Disney Television.

“We have a show that we’re working on now that we’re excited about, which is about a group of Mormon wives who are also swingers,” Mills said at a Realscreen event in New Orleans.

The show is reportedly being produced by Jeff Jenkins Productions, the company behind Netflix’s “Bling Empire.”

And it wouldn’t be the first series to be released about the LDS Church. Hulu put out “Mormon No More” in 2022, a four-part docuseries about two Latter-day Saints women who divorced their husbands and married each other after falling in love.

Another series called “Daughters of the Cult” came out just this month — a five-episode look into the history of the “polygamous Ervil LeBaron cult” which broke off from the LDS Church, told mainly through the eyes of two of LeBaron’s daughters.

“Under the Banner of Heaven” also came out in 2022, based on the book of the same name by Jon Krakauer. The series covers the 1984 Utah murder of Brenda Lafferty and her infant daughter Erica.

Netflix also released “Murder Among the Mormons” in 2021 — a three-part documentary series directed by Jared Hess and Tyler Measom, examining a trio of bombings in 1985 that killed two people and shocked Salt Lake City.

More details about Hulu’s possible new series have not yet been released.

If by “Mormon”, they mean members, they will have to change the name of the show after a few weeks, I am guessing.

I think the word "Mormon" being an unusable, trademarked word is still being haggled out in the courts.

From the Church website:

A Church trademark can be any word, phrase, symbol, design, or combination of these that identifies the Church as the source of an item or service. A Church trademark can also be the distinctive appearance of an item, including its size, shape, color, texture, packaging, and graphics.

The following is a partial list of Church trademarks and service marks:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Church Symbol (Christus under an arch)
Liahona
Book of Mormon
Mormon
LDS
CTR
FamilySearch
These are trademarks and service marks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or Intellectual Reserve, Inc., and are registered in the United States of America and other countries.

I don’t see how they can argue “Mormon” is a church trademark anymore when they insist it’s a nickname not chosen by the Church and it’s appropriate to be used for historic locations not owned by the Church, such as the Mormon Trail.

I thought mormon swingers was just some whacky tiktok thing (see https://www.smh.com.au/culture/celebrity/the-swinging-mormon-moms-of-tiktok-are-at-war-with-each-other-20220603-p5aqsh.html ).

I didn't realise there were enough of them to make a series out of it.

How long until we get a series about provo-soaking and one-night-vegas-marriages?

I assumed you meant that they would have to change the name of the show because those women would quickly be excommunicated once their leaders knew what they were doing.

It's just a technicality. I've known excommunicated members to say they were still Mormon, regardless of their membership status.

Not too long ago in the local news there were several parties with this going on in my hometown of Bountiful Utah and the children were in the homes, disgusting! 😞

Their parents must be so proud. 🙄

But seriously, I think it's sad for all involved and the children especially.

Can't rep ya!  Sorry:sad:.  But ... +1!  😅

Mormons have a really WEIRD reputation in the swinging community. There are a lot of jokes. Some of the stories I have heard are hilarious but I have no idea how many of them are true.
