We got snow today!

If it was the same storm in Northern CA, I remember it well.  My high school was going crazy and my sister and I were rolling our eyes because a few years before we were living in Illinois and one year we had snow coming up to the eaves of our house (granted, it was blown that way, but had to be at least 3 feet deep as we were making tunnels through it).  Took at least 3 days for the snow plow to get there.

But seeing snow on greenery is very pretty, so that was nice.

We got snow here in Southern California today. We are at about 1500 FT elevation. I can't recall snow since 1974. It's so pretty and clean.

How much snow accumulated (if any)?

Being from Arizona as I am (from the Phoenix area), the idea of living in a place where it could possibly snow was totally foreign to my way of thinking.  But I moved to Utah last summer to the Salt Lake City area, and I was told by some people in my ward, "Don't worry, it doesn't snow that much here."  Yeah, right... it has been snowing most of the winter and we had about two feet of snow just this last week.  It's no longer a novelty to me, although I occasionally still take pictures of it because sometimes it's pretty.

It has been an unusual winter. It feels like the snowiest it has been since we moved back (20 years!) but my memory is not that great, so I should check.

It's just radio signals from the stars in outer space. Try adjusting the rabbit ear antenna. The best position is to put one vertical and the other horizontal.

Not much. I guess about an inch or two. It all melted off real fast. It was kind of cool seeing palm trees with snow on them. Might snow again later in the week.

I know about those Salt Lake City blizzards. I was a fresh green 18-wheeler driver when I hit one leaving Salt Lake. I pulled over and slept for the night. I waited for the snow plows and the salt. Motorhomes and cars are blowing by me at 80 miles an hour. I figured they were going to be some wrecks. Sure enough about an hour later I see all the emergency vehicles going down the road.

Looks like my memory isn’t too bad. According to trib

As of Wednesday, the only years that saw more snow to date were 1984, 1997 and 2005.

This was in mid January. We have till early April when snow usually peaks to beat those years out.

Utah has slowed down a bit.  There's now 6 years with more water - 1984, 1986, 1993, 1997, 2005, 2017.

You can see all the years going back to 1981 in this interactive chart https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/Internet/WCIS/AWS_PLOTS/basinCharts/POR/WTEQ/assocHUCut3/state_of_utah.html.  You can turn on/off each year to compare.

2010 or 2011 was quite the year, if I remember correctly. :)

I just spoke with a family member from the Phoenix area, and I was told that Scottsdale and Cave Creek got snow a couple of days ago.  (Both Scottsdale and Cave Creek are in the metro Phoenix area, but Scottsdale sprawls north east to a higher elevation than the rest of the valley, and Cave Creek is north of Phoenix):

Just when you thought it was safe to put away your snow shovel...

SNOW 46

I think that number (46) is accurate (assuming I counted correctly) of the number of snow days since last fall in the Salt Lake City area (including today), based on this site.

Yes, it's SNOWING AGAIN TODAY!!!   (I'm going back to Arizona :))
