rodheadlee Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 Where should I get my news? I like to have a comment section so I can take the pulse of America. I need to know when to hop on my boat and disappear. Washington Post is all Democrat anti-republican, anti Trump, Fox News is all Republican and anti Democrat. I thought Yahoo news was a fair Shake down the middle but Nehor advises me that they are serial Liars. Do you have any ideas?
bluebell Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 Yahoo is fine if you pay attention to the source. You can get a good mix of liberal and conservative news stuff. 1

Once it goes out all kinds of outlets will repeat it. I doubt Yahoo News was your source as they did not draw the conclusions you did. Other sources did. Nice try though. -1
longview Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 "The Epoch Times" is a wonderful breath of fresh air and very insightful. They provide a weekly print publication as well as multiple web sources. 1

rpn Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 I find that in order to be informed, I need to read multiple news sources, and as much as I can, the original events that those outlets are reporting on. I read WSJ NPR Washington Post NYTimes Deseret News SL Trib Al Jazzera BBC Local Papers And snippets from others, including CNN. I once watch fox news regularly but in the last two years it has been so radical it is no longer useful, even on the margins. But I suspect that there will always be places in America that are good places to live. Maybe they'll try hard not to appear in the media. 2

The pro-Kremlin and pro-far right paper that spread covid misinformation, the QAnon conspiracy, and the myth of the stolen election? The one created by the Falun Gong? The religion that combines Taoism and the weird pronouncements of its founder. The founder who claimed that aliens started invading everyone’s brains in the 1900s and that is why we have computers now? The founder who denounces feminism and homosexuality and claimed he could walk through walls and levitate? Their journalism is insightful and a breath of fresh air you say? Hmmmmm………….. -1

As usual, you have defaulted to ad hominem slander and attacks. In other threads you have castigateed the Falun Gong but when I asked what your problem was with them, you never had a good reason. No one has even begun to explain just who the Q's and the Anons are. Just a flimsy and vague paranoid conspiracy theory on the part of the deranged left. Please cite any article in which Epoch has voiced support for the totalitarianism of Putin and his ilk. Which is strange coming from you since you have expressed numerous times your fondness for the antics of antifas.

Which is strange coming from you since you have expressed numerous times your fondness for the antics of antifas. When the discussion is about the credibility of a news source the credibility of the people behind it is germane so not ad hominem. Ad hominems have to be irrelevant to the actual discussion to fall under the fallacy. No one has begun to explain who the QAnons are? There is a Wikipedia article explaining who Q is, what their goals are, and the goals of Q’s adherents. There are multiple articles, videos, and breakdowns of QAnon. Your ignorance is your own choice. I didn’t say that Epoch Times was overtly supporting Russian totalitarianism. I said they were pro-Kremlin. They repeat Kremlin talking points. They have run articles that falsely suggest that the sanctions against Russia are not working or are giving China an edge or whatever. They get out the message that Russia wants the west to believe. And ending on an Antifa whataboutism. Fitting since whataboutism was a favored rhetorical tactic of the Soviets and the Russians still use it. -1
