My oldest son, has landed a dream job, working for a computer company. He works (for the most part) from home, but there is a lot of travel. His salary is $200,000.00 a year. I gave him four pieces of advice. 1. Always assume, no matter where you are, who you are, and the values that you have been taught. 2. In addition, no matter what you are doing, and wherever you are, assume that someone is recording you, this will ensure you don't embarrass the company. Well at least not too much. 3. Wherever you are, and no matter who may be around, you look both ways before crossing the road, and always be on the lookout for rental trucks or vans, and react as needed! Terrorists love targeting Americans, especially outside of America. But also be on the look out here, especially in large cities. 4. When possible, always take family with you. Keep them close, because little else matters more than family, and they will keep you honest, and honorable. It seems that these four sentences listed, fit all of advice, Should I add more? If so what my friends?

If the intent is to save lives, why not tell them to be on the look out for reckless cyclists, drunk drivers, or muggers (or even parachutists as you are more likely to be killed by one of those than a terrorist)? Use skype/facetime generously (including for reading the book while kiddos go to sleep or joining family scripture study or FHE), but nothing will replace those physical letters you send home that your kids and even your spouse will get out of the mailbox (if you keep them, they'll double as a journal too). Take your children with you, anywhere the hotel has babysitting service if you'll have a few hours to spend with them in the new place. Don't spend your whole paycheck, save much of it for retirement/when you lose a job/or when you get sick. Attend church every sunday somewhere --- meetinghouse locator makes that pretty easy. And often you'll be invited home for dinner by someone in the congregation and you'll end up with friends all over. I also put it this way, Don't do or say anything you won't like to see on the front page of the newspaper, ever. Edited April 27, 2018 by rpn

I have known about (and mocked) incels for some time. It is weird to see them on the news. Weird feeling when something you basically only see online shows up in real life.

People are too nasty to each other anymore and have little to loose, you just never know who is about to snap. Per this post... carbon dioxide Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 My advice would to be to stay at home as much as possible. It is a dangerous world and things are out to kill us. We are far less likely to be a victim of crime or hit by a drunk driver if we are watching Netflix in the living room.

What you see here in this forum is a group of rather special individuals who delve into many off-beat areas of knowledge. As for the concealed carry thing, I happen to have a concealed carry permit for Washington state, but even I don't see that as something necessarily universally desirable. I mean, if you want to, yeah sure get a permit, but consider that you will probably never need it -- in the sense of needing to defend yourself with deadly force. I've had a permit for going onto 20 years, and I've never been in that position, thankfully. But an acquaintance of mine found herself in that situation once and was forced to defend herself, killing her attacker -- who turned out to be a career felon only just days previously released from prison. Fortunately, her husband was an NRA-certified firearms instructor, and had trained her well. The thing is, poptart, while you may not know who is about to snap, the reality is that almost no-one is ready to snap. And in most civilized countries, at least, you really don't have to be constantly on your guard that the dude who happens to be standing next to you is going to suddenly decide to go postal. Despite what you hear in the news media (unless you live in certain areas of Chicago and similar places), you are not about to get shot or run over by some crazy at any given moment of the day. So, relax. It's all good, and despite your day-to-day worries, all you really have to worry about is yourself. Keep yourself under control, and things will likely be chill. That's my philosophy anyway. Huh, had a buddy run some piece of scum off his property in lakewood, he almost got in trouble over it. Thing is, I did have to grow up in not so nice places and I did have to defend myself once on a job, once only though. Didn't get to shoot the bad guy though ;_; Life's always kinda sucked for me, didn't get to have a nice set of upper middle class entitled white parents from the burbs, at the point where I actually enjoy the chaos I see and look forward to the chaotic times coming and the trash it will hopefully wipe out.
