Force Awakens was like watching those insipid Mormon comedy movies from like 10+ years ago, you know you've see it before because they were just rehashed from other blockbuster hits from the '90's, like Chris Farley's stuff. Rogue One just worked, it was a tie in to something we are familiar with in the sense it was like episode 3.5. I wish they wouldn't have killed them off either! 1

That would certainly potentially introduce a more religious element into future Star Wars movies, and bring this thread back around to its beginning. I'm sure it won't prove as interesting as the Journal of Discourses though.

Those characters weren’t that interesting to me. Except the blind guy. 2

I'm surprised that people weren't prepared for everyone to die at the end of Rogue One. It was really the only way they could handle the prequel that would explain why none of the characters in the prequel played any part in the future star wars universe. Those poor souls didn't stand a chance..... 3

That went over my head when I saw the movie. I don't remember it. I've never read any of the books, but it seems the Journal is getting introduced by Disney. Next time I see Rogue One, I'll make sure to listen for it. It doesn't seem to be so popular with cable stations.

You're not the only ones on this island, you know..." 1
MorningStar Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 What I learned is that Luke can use the force to create an optical illusion and so maybe when Han Solo died, that was actually an optical illusion and he's not really dead. Also still really bitter that Kylo Ren looks nothing like Leia and Han. So dumb. Can't stand Kylo unless it's the SNL skit where he's the Undercover Boss. That's hilarious. Oh, I mean Luke lost the faith due to trial and tribulation, but regained it through Rey being his home teacher. 3

Its interesting that you reference The Lion King. I’ve noticed a lot of similarities between Lion King and Last Jedi. Luke and Simba have very similar character archs. They both feel guilty about something and go into exile. They both are needed to save the day while the bad guys take over. They are both visited in exile by a female character and refuse the call to action. They are both visited by an old wise mentor character who hit them with a stick and tell them to learn from the past. And finallt they both show up to save the day when all hope seems lost.
