Why I don't believe in darwinian Atheism

Atheism teaches that explosions out of nothing create universes and libraries. However, some atheistic doctrines do happen to be right. For example, atheism teaches there are no immaterial spirits, and we know it is true because section 131 tells us all spirit is matter.  But just because some atheistic doctrines are right doesn't mean there is no god. Atheists cherry pick their doctrines and mostly promote their hits, but forget about the things they get wrong.

Some Atheists argue their ideas are a million dollar hit, but I think they simply miscalculate. For example, if we ask what is the probability that two of 23 people share the same birthday: atheists would tell us it is 23/365. But the calculation is wrong, the probability that two of 23 people share the same birthday is 1 in two, or 50%.  I don't judge atheists for believing that explosions create universes and planets. Even if atheists get  one in a million hits, it wont' mean Atheism is true. We must love Atheists and be their friends. We need to preach the gospel to them.

Atheism makes no claims about spirits. Depending upon what you mean by atheism it's completely compatible with the idea of spirits (either material or immaterial). Most atheists of course disbelieve spirits for the same reasons they disbelieve in God (lack of evidence). But that doesn't mean one couldn't think there are spirits yet reject theism. Stoics did for instance. Of course we can debate whether Stoics are properly atheists since they tend to call the universe god. However it's not really a theistic or personal god. There's lots of contemporary atheists who hold to neo-stoicism. While Stoicism was thought theistic in the 17th century but by the 18th century was considered atheistic. You then have figures like Spinoza where some call him an atheist and others don't. So one has to define terms carefully in the discussion.

The point is that Atheists only promote the things they get right, but forget about the things they get wrong . The things that atheists get right are just lucky hits because Atheism can never be proven.

Okay, I will. So, would you agree that in a room of 23 people there is a 50% chance that two share the same birthday?

What you are calling Atheism, the rest of the world calls Science.  The quality of life we are living today is brought to us in a large part by science.  You know, things like technology and medicine.  Science brings us the kind of advancements that are tangible and real.  The one in a million things you seem to be all rapped up about apply more to religion, whose advancements are non tangible, and to many, non-existent.

You are saying that atheists do not know how to calculate probabilities of people having the same birthday?

Why would you think that and what does that have to do with your point?

Well, you have convinced me you are a troll.

Since when did holding atheistic beliefs prevent one from taking math classes?

CFR on atheists don't do math correctly.

Please demonstrate that Stephen Hawking would get this simple probability problem wrong solely because he is an atheist.

What makes you think that?  I am not an anti-mormon, it is not the first time someone tells me that. What makes you think I am a troll? and why would I be trolling for? By definition a troll is "a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting quarrels or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community" .  I am not posting inflammatory, extraneous, off-topic messages.

Atheists don't do the math correctly because they argue improbable events such as explosions creating universes happen, If you think explosions creating universes is probable just ask Elder Nelson. Atheists  don't believe in low probability things like the fine tuning of the Universe. Therefore the atheists do the Math wrong. I don't know who is Stephen Dawkins, but his name sounds familiar.

I think you are a troll because your arguments like atheists don't do math are the opposite of reality and basic logic.  I find it astronomically unlikely anyone would sincerely make that claim.

If you don't truly know who Stephen Hawking is, you shouldn't take it upon yourself to say anything about the universe.  You show less education in the area than a high schooler.

Didn't say all atheists, I am only talking about the atheists that misuse math to attempt to disprove the existence of God. What would be the point to troll atheists in a message board about religion?

My thoughts on the OP

 trying to say two things

1. Because there are a lot of atheist  doctrines and ideas it is inevitable that some are going to be correct.

2. Some of the anti-god evidences are simply miscalculations.

You don't know who Stephen Hawking is, your use of a probability problem to prove atheists don't get it...yeah, I am sure it is either you have ignored much of what you learned after 8th grade or are trolling or both.

Samuel has a point, though it is unclear if he is trying to make it.  Many self-proclaimed atheists, or even science-aficionados, operate with a clear deficit of knowledge of the subject matters they discuss, requiring as much faith in science as others have in religion.   I know more than a few atheists who would be unable to calculate anything outside of Eighth Grade pre-algebra, but love to tout science as the sum of all knowledge.  Most atheists are just as ill-informed about the tenets of atheism (primarily science) as religious aficionados are about religion.

That's not specific to athiesm. A lot of theists believe this.

Not all atheists believe this. There are a diversity of beliefs among theists and atheists. Not all theists believe in souls.

Just like everyone else, in other words?

I have long maintained that Temple Recommend interviews should involve questions regarding probablility theory...it’s the surest way to identify those atheists hiding amongst the flock

What is the probability a divine being would have a Son and send him to a planet to die to redeem the inhabitants of that planet and how does that compare to how likely the Big Bang is?

Yes, many atheists are clueless and cannot accurately calculate probabilities. I have a feeling that if many of them were to understand probability they would convert to Christianity.

So in other words atheists 1. Miscalculate probabilities 2. Promote their hits, but ignore their misses.

None of your arguments makes sense, if anything they sound juvenile. Atheism has no doctrine which relies the "truthfulness" of any ideal. The "Theory of evolution" which earned solid a spot, earned it's right going through thousands of tests. it is no longer touted to be "True"....It is a FACT. That  is why 95% of planet's universities, medical schools teaches it (with NO alternative to it!), when you want to be a doctor, you cannot go to your favorite religious institutions & get a diploma to heal people. I am sorry to say but very few, desperate people would take prayers, blessings instead of the medical therapy and medicine for healing.

Hey Sam...

After a lot of education, maybe I could believe there is no God. But no amount of education could make me believe in evolution. Vision evolved? Really? So...there were these people, or proto-humans, or early mammals who eventually became us, who could see a little, and because it was to there advantage to see more, that those who could see best lived, and were thus more successful  at procreating, that we now have pretty good vision?

You are new. People here who know me know that I reserve two words for only extreme circumstances. "Absurd" and "ridiculous". I am almost always against the use of those words. But I hold that evolution is both absurd and ridiculous. And most people today believe in it. Some people who go to church believe in evolution in 2017. I don't think their children will go to church . Give it another generation. I agree with you if you are saying that evolution leads to atheism. I don't think I could persuade my kids to like church enough to go if I had taught them to believe in evolution. I love Sunday. I love church. But church + Darwin? Not so much. Not at all.  I can't get very excited. I couldn't go to an evolution church.
