Mormon wiki says he lives in Cokeville with his wife and 6 children.  He went to Ricks and BYU and went to the Netherlands on his mission.

There's another famous Mormon film that had Gordon Jump (of WKRP fame).  I don't think it's online, and I couldn't link to it if it was.

A lot of the BYU-produced films have universal themes that aren't LDS-specific (and some even have a disclaimer for church members at the beginning saying as much).  "Cipher in the Snow" is about an ostracized teenager, which is something that would be good for all school-age children to be aware of.

Watched "Days of Harmony" this weekend. Wow. and Wow.

Hands down the most tender/moving//powerful LDS-produced film I"ve seen. The writing, filming, acting, and message are perfect. Simply requires a wee trip to SLC Visitors Center (bulding in NW corner of Temple Square...downstairs, SE end of building). Simply take a seat in the little theater there, and each of the two Restoration films automatically cues up. Do yourself and your household a favor, and pack up and go see it asap. The experience will move you. A clip is available here:

Why?

Demonstrates an example of humble service...and the importantce of acting, when the Lord or the prophet says something needs to be done to help others, to be one (in a growing chorus of many) who says "I'm ready now." 

Of saints strengthened by something as simple or as profound as a jig during their storm.

Of sacrifice and struggle, and faithfulness.

Of prophecy fulfilled.

Very similar to what my grandmother (and later mother) made, though my mother made liberal substitutions, including raspberry gelatin, vanilla pudding, angel food cake, and coolwhip, which, together with whole raspberries or strawberries, would be pressed into a 9x12 pyrex cake pan and refrigerated.

I still think about it during the hot months, but have no idea how to make it.  Thnx for the very difficult and timeconsuming recipe.

Not sure how this thread ended up diverting to European desserts and NZ travel, but...

I'm in the early stages of rolling out a cottage industry/service long distance...hopefully to be led in person by a famiy or three in New Zealand who wanna share a beautiful country  w/visitors while shining a light on  Maori heritage, Tolkien inklings, and a key origin of Western civ.

Cue: Nephites/Ammonites/Hagoth...the occasional opportunity for Sacajawea-type guides to plant a Johnny Kiwi-seed missionary meme/testimony...and see what grows. 

Sent up a flare a few days ago.  This is a second one. Hoping an appropriate family or three to please step forward.

If not, I might have to hop an occasional plane or kayak (I can paddle there in a few hours, right?)  to stir up occasional trouble on both islands there.

You used to live in NZ? I've never been there. I've heard it can be nice. Cold, though. I think I read that it has the world's highest spike in wintertime deaths, not because the temperature is so low but because the houses are so poorly built.

? Exhaust not making it out? Is Santa not coming down the chimneys any morre? I thought he was supposed to funcdtion as a chimney sweep. And leave coal (warmth) as a friendly consolation prize.

Furnaces going bad? Carbon monixide? What is it? (had a furnace go on me once...poisoned bad enough that system was weakened (anemia from the gas) and got pneumonia and couldn't think straightt for weeks. Had fortunately read something about it, realized my growing symptoms matched, and got it tested/resolved before it killed us or before our newly adopted one was seriuosly impacted (supposedly is harder on the wee ones). 

Did I live in NZ? I bed&breakfasted, and camped and drove and walked in NZ. Based on the things I saw and the people I met, I'd definitely call it living. The place stole my heart. (And no, I don't want it back.) That's a good safe place for it (cause it keeps moving). ;0)

My father-in-law was working as a contractor in Australia. Invited to put us up if we could drum up the airfare (we lived on the west coast then). Lived on cardboard and air for a year or so (mild exaggeration) and eventually found a way to fund it. But I said to her, knowing the travel-agent in her would appreciate it, that if we're flying right past/over NZ, there's no way we're not gonna stop and see. So that was the first thing we did. I think about it often. Even more when Tolkien comes up....which is surprisingly often.

Writing a book about Danevirke (the one in Europe) the  earthwork/icon that the NZ town was named after..back when an influx of Danes to NZ came after losing hope/respect in their country, among thousands of other Danes who at the same time decided to call it a day and sail away elsewhere. Should probably add a small chapter about tne NZ Danes and their Danevirke, now that you so rudely brought up the land whose name must not be mentioned. ;0)

Maybe I need to change that to, my husband's dream vacation! I need a warmer place. My son and his wife are looking into doing something called "Work Away", they travel around the world and work to earn their stay. I may need to try this! ETA: To stay on topic, I need to mention my favorite part in "Brigham City" was when the bishop didn't take the Sacrament. It was just a moment in time that I remember, you'd have to see it I guess.

Wasn't there a talk or article about a disagreement about that among early apostles who had to share a room one night? Oh, no. It was Ben Franklin and one of the other founding fathers. Could have been mentioned in a church talk.

They must not have the gov't funded insulation incentives that have driven most of the insulation initiatives here in the states. (I used to do insulation before my mission.) 

Local (and I think county/state gov't) deemed it more cost effective (and energy wise) to fund home insulation than it was to waste all that energy heating the outdoors, which would have otherwise required them to build costly,  pollution-generating power plants that weren't needed. Does NZ not fund that kind of thing?  If not, why?
