Anti-Mormon Pastor to Preach to Trump

He's also anti-Catholic, so we're all in good company :)

Pastor Robert Jeffress scheduled to preach to Trump

Quote

A pastor with a long history of inflammatory remarks about Muslims, Mormons, Catholics and gays is scheduled to preach at a private service for President-elect Trump and his family on Friday, shortly before Trump takes the oath of office.

Quote
Jeffress leads a 12,000-member megachurch in Dallas and is a frequent guest on Fox News. But to many Americans, he may be best known for his frequent condemnations of Mormonism as a "cult" during the 2012 presidential campaign. He urged Christians not to vote for Mitt Romney, a Mormon, during the Republican primary. He later supported Romney over President Barack Obama.
Jeffress has also called Islam and Mormonism heresies "from the pit of hell," suggested that the Catholic church was led astray by Satan, accused Obama of "paving the way" for the Antichrist and spread false statistics about the prevalence of HIV among gays, who he said live a "miserable" and "filthy" lifestyle.
In recent years, Jeffress has frequently denounced Islam, calling it an "evil religion" that "promotes pedophilia" because the Prophet Muhammed married a 9-year-old girl. (Many modern Muslim scholars disagree about her age.) The pastor has also said that Mormons, Muslims and Hindus "worship a false god."

One more reason to protest Donald Trump's inauguration?

.... nah

I doubt that the subject of the Mormons will come up.  Even then, Trump is smart enough to ignore it, considering all of the criticisms and hate rhetoric he has himself been subjected to.

Watching the inauguration right now, as the cameras are rolling across the children of Pres. elect Trump. His youngest son is pretty fun to watch.

Yes, that was definitely a poor choice to have Jeffress preach to the Trumps. I wonder if Donald Trump even went to church or not. We'll see I guess.

He went to St. John's this morning to church.  I do have to say that I respect (though may disagree) that those who participated today in verse, prayer etc., shook hands, closed their eyes ..and gave peaceful recognition to all.   I do believe Trump's youngest has autism..which is one of the reasons that Melania detains from taking him out of school.  He is fun to watch..he looks fascinated and yet does not see that he fascinates!:)

Jeanne, despite what some say, I liked some of Pres. Trump's speech. I liked how he called out the politicians for not getting things done. I hope for a change in this. I liked how he spoke about the people being heard. I really deep down believe he has some liberal leanings, and at one time was Democrat. We'll have to see. And hopefully he will work on immigration issues in a humane way.

I didn't know his son might have autism tendencies. I was impressed with everything that took place today. I liked to see unity with all those that have been fighting beforehand. I will honor and respect our constitution and the switching of power.

I so admire the open heart and open mind.  I, too, with many reservations, hold out that hope that we can all be unified.  You rock Tacenda...hope all  of our hopes and dreams come true.  I really don't think that Trump is the devil people may think.  With some patience and open to dialogue with all, I hope that what he  desires in his address becomes a reality.

Oh..I can't go another minute without saying that I do respect that Bill and Hillary Clinton were there to be a part of this transition..much respect there to the Bushes, and Pres. Carter also.

I hope it all works out well, but no confidence that it will.

I guess I'm an optimist, or maybe I'm too nuetral. I just feel that we need to give him a chance. I don't agree with his past actions, hoping he found a new level to walk on.

When I think about it, we've had good presidents that were unfaithful to their wives before. And there is forgiveness to think about. I know his speech was probably written by someone else, but I like that it was written for him and his wants.

I think the reason people voted for him was because he spoke to many out there. I was so sick of the Republican party barring some things Obama tried, speaking specifically of immigration reform, although I take Obama's side. I hope that more will get done now.

Hopefully by seeming nuetral, I'm not what this quote says....

“We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” -Elie Wiesel

But who said Pres. Trump is an oppressor right? I'll try not to be silent either. Maybe I just need to shut up on this thread though. I've talked too much.

Unfortunately, I don't think that answer will pass the laugh test at the final judgment.

Over 2.8 million disagree.

If that 2.8 million jumped over a cliff would you follow them?  :(

He did have God's choir singing during the ceremony. Maybe that will neutralize any damage Jeffress did.

In all seriousness, though, I'm confident that President Trump paid next to no attention to either Jeffress or the Choir.
