Jeanne Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Prince mentioned on a talk show that his changed name was to somehow erase the past ..start anew.

Jeanne Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 You know...I would have just loved..(when they younger) to have hear Donny Osmond and Michael harmonize together. 1

Unless you're thinking happiness is relative, maybe. Not totally sure but I think our doctrine is that everyone must accept at least the most basic gospel principles and ordinances to avoid/ get out of spirit prison. But he'll probably be "as happy" as he was happy here, although without any money. Edited April 22, 2016 by Ahab miskeyed Enter

Not everybody goes up. Some people go down. I think "the artist formerly known as Prince" was a pretty nice guy, though, so at least he has that in his favor.

Tacenda Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Here is a bit about his personal life, he lost a child soon after birth, sad. And It looks like he was definitely a true believer and JW. He was a generous guy, and donated millions. Looks like he was writing a memoir, too bad it didn't get finished. Over the years Prince was romantically linked with many celebrities, including Kim Basinger, Madonna, Vanity, Sheila E., Carmen Electra, Susanna Hoffs, Anna Fantastic,[12]Sherilyn Fenn,[216] and Susan Moonsie of Vanity 6 and Apollonia 6.[217] Prince was engaged to Susannah Melvoin in 1985.[218] When he was 37, he married his 22-year-old backup singer and dancer Mayte Garcia on Valentine's Day 1996. They had a son named Boy Gregory on October 16, 1996, who was born with Pfeiffer syndrome and died a week later.[219] Prince and Mayte divorced in 1999. In 2001, Prince married Manuela Testolini in a private ceremony; she filed for divorce in May 2006.[220] Prince joined the Jehovah's Witnesses in 2001, following a two-year-long debate with friend and fellow Jehovah's Witness musician Larry Graham. Prince said that he did not consider it a conversion, but a "realization". "It's like Morpheus and Neo in The Matrix", he explained. He attended meetings at a local Kingdom Hall and occasionally knocked on people's doors to discuss his faith.[221] Prince reportedly needed double hip-replacement surgery since 2005 but would not undergo the operation unless it was a bloodless surgery because Jehovah's Witnesses typically do not accept blood products.[222] The condition was caused by repeated onstage dancing in high-heeled boots.[223] Towards the end of his life Prince regularly walked with a cane in public engagements, leading to speculation that this was from due to his not having the surgery. He had, however, been using canes as part of his outfit from the early 1990s onward.[224] Prince was a vegetarian.[225][226][227] The liner notes for his album Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic featured a message about the cruelty involved in wool production.[228] Prince was also a behind-the-scenes philanthropist for black youth. In 2001 He donated $12,000,000 anonymously to the Louisville Free Library to keep the historic Western Branch Library, the first full service library for African Americans in the country, from closure. [229] More recently, in 2015 he was the inspiration for YesWeCode, paying for somehackathons outright.[230] In 2016, Prince announced that he was writing a memoir, tentatively titled The Beautiful Ones.[23 2

Even the worst kind of people have many good things to teach other people, and he was far from being the worst kind of man he could have been. 1
Storm Rider Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Every generation has their favorites. Just give me some Patti Page, Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Nat King Cole. There are so many that when you start you know you will have forgotten so many others. 1
MiserereNobis Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 1) When people say, "the King is dead! Long live the King!" the second 'King' is referring to the successor of the first 'King.' So, who has taken Prince's place as his successor? 2) It is absolutely and utterly reprehensible that on a list of the greatest musicians in the afterlife getting together to jam no one has said Jerry Garcia!! 1

Here's something I just found on it: http://www.vox.com/2016/4/21/11481686/prince-name-change-symbol-why "The name change may have been an irritation tactic Now, it's worth noting that Prince never came out and said he was trying to anger Warner Bros. music division with the name change. But he hinted as much many times, and the fact that he returned to using the name Prince in 2000 — after he'd been released from his contract — suggests that this was the reason for the name change all along." Didn't know he returned to using it. Good to know. Btw I have been anointed to become both a king and a priest so if you wish you may refer to me as Prince Ahab... or Prince (insert any other of my names, I have many names)

The Nehor Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 So have they buried the corpse formerly known as Prince yet?

He was Jehovah Witness but you have to admire someone who despite his need for hip surgery, decided against it because it would violate his belief in the sacred nature of blood. Anyone who puts his beliefs above his own needs warrants my admiration, even if I don't share his beliefs. Was indeed talented, and many came to his defense that he did not use drugs. But now we learn that six days before his death he was put in the hospital for a drug overdose. Now still trying to find out what killed him. From all accounts he was very nassuming of stage, kind and gracious to all and save his ego for the stage. To many of great artist have been take from us due to drugs. I was nt a big fan, but he was a great performer.. Glenn Fry of the Eagles was harder on me, just like, losing John Lennon. God bless them all for the music the brough to Everyone.
