The Nehor Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 As a TBM, I considered myself a political junkie - I would listen to all the talk radio guys, read the right wing websites, and watched Fox News. Now I consider myself a moderate Independent who is informed, but certainly not a "junkie". I consider myself an uninformed political blowhard talking total rubbish. That said I still know more then most. 2
Bernard Gui Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) Who suggested that? I haven't seen anything remotely close to that sentiment expressed on this thread. If that message came across somehow I apologize because I don't believe it.No worries. The OP and quite a few other comments imply that if one still fits the stereotype of the old white shirt church guy who accepts all the callings then he obviously hasn't moved past the blind obedience bit to the higher levels of self-awareness, spiritual enlightenment, intellectual emancipation, and honesty attained by those on sabbatical. It's been a recurring theme over the decades here. I simply reject that notion. Wearing a white shirt for 3 hours out of 168 in the week doesn't give me heartburn. Kenngo1969 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I wish I had the same experience as all of you. But sadly I hate working out and I really still enjoy soda and pizza. I seemed to have lost passion in a lot of areas. Get your thyroid tested. . (it seems to be a common problem around here)I believe that was in answer to Mola, before I very rudely interrupted your conversation! Sorry!

I certainly don't believe that and have never suggested anything like that. My guess is that most of us have questioned and continue to question our beliefs and practices, and that's a healthy process. Someone who reassesses where they are and determines they are where they are supposed to be is no less self-aware or enlightened than someone who decides to make changes. 1

I think you read way too much into the OP. 4

BookofMormonLuvr Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I have come to realize that we must each study, ponder, and pray and reach our own conclusion of what scripture is teaching us. Just because someone may not agree with my conclusions doesn't mean they are less intelligent or studied than me, they have just arrived, sincerely, at a different conclusion.I believe God is merciful and will work with the sincere, and eventually we will all see eye to eye in Zion, as we are corrected and instructed by the LORD Himself. 1
KevinG Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I question my beliefs all the time. God and Mrs. G assure me that I'm still crazy. 1

Just out of curiosity, did you used to be LDS or some other flavor of Mormon?
jkwilliams Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I question my beliefs all the time. God and Mrs. G assure me that I'm still crazy. Me too. I question every day, and every day I tell myself, "Yep, you're still wrong." 1
BookofMormonLuvr Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Just out of curiosity, did you used to be LDS or some other flavor of Mormon?I was raised LDS from the time I was about 7. Served a mission to Argentina.I fell in with fundamentalist Mormons (The Righteous Branch/Peterson Group) for awhile.I settled into fellowship with the RLDS Restoration Branches, where I currently serve as an Aaronic Priest.I am very unorthodox and independent in my personal theology and worship.I really can't be classified or put into any one box anymore.

BookofMormonLuvr Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I wish you well in your journey. I apologize for being a little flippant with you. You have obviously devoted a lot of time and effort to your beliefs. They just don't resonate at all with me. I don't expect them to, We are each on our own journey. As the quote on my profile says: “If I esteem mankind to be in error, shall I bear them down? No. I will lift them up, and in their own way too, if I cannot persuade them my way is better; and I will not seek to compel any man to believe as I do, only by the force of reasoning, for truth will cut its own way. Do you believe in Jesus Christ and the Gospel of salvation which He revealed? So do I. Christians should cease wrangling and contending with each other, and cultivate the principles of union and friendship in their midst; and they will do it before the millennium can be ushered in and Christ takes possession of His kingdom.” (Joseph Smith, July 9, 1843)
BookofMormonLuvr Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Religious people expend entirely too much energy trying to explain why they are right and you are wrong. I just like to share what I believe and how I have come to that conclusion, and see how others arrived at theirs- too many folks see that as a challenge to their beliefs that they must defend against.
