ok.....geez....5 months ago I was anti-LDS living in Texas in a nice house and with a great job.  Now, I am LDS, living in an apartment in SLC looking for a job.

Now the question....should I go in person or stream it?

You can still buy streaming, walkins are welcome too. Lunch is available at closeby restaurants.

If you happen to be downtown Provo for a few hours, at least come visit the bookstore. :)

Absolutely fantastic talks today- Margaret

Barker's was a paradigm shifter and worth the price of admission all by itself! Mary as the weaver of thetemple veil mixed with Hebrews 10:20? Are you kidding me?? Powerful powerful stuff. It's enough to make one re-think the whole theology of the Holy ghost. Very important talk for LDS.

I agree that Barker's talk was great. She never spoke about Heavenly Mother being the spouse of Heavenly Father but only as the mother of Jesus. There are some definite theological differences. Doesn't make any of her re-translation work wrong, only that she lacks acceptance of a broader base that would offer better contextualization. Anyway, that was my take. I describe her as a kind of protestant Nibley. :)

I was so mad I missed it. Hopefully tonight i will get to sleep before 7am so I can make it at 9 instead of noon.

My favorite of the afternoon ones was Chapman's plural marriage, nice mix of facts and stories. I think I will enjoy Larsen's temple talk more in print, that kind of information I prefer to read to take my time mullimg over. I enjoyed Dennis and Gordon as well, just they won't have the long term impact for me of the other two talks. (Hope I got the names right)

And in hopes of early to bed (for me), think I will sign off now.

It was fantastic. I was able to attend and for the first time bring along Sister Gui, our daughter Artiminia,

our son Postfusio, and his wife Estrafina. They each had their favorite presentations and were so happy they went.

Got to meet Scott Lloyd and Mark Bukowski.....both far more handsome than I had imagined.

Wished Dan Peterson had had more time.

Streaming the archived videos will be available in a few days, as soon as Trevor can get them all up. You can buy the service immediately, so don't panic if they don't appear for a day or two. I will try and remember to abnounce when it is a go.

The name will likely be changed, I believe it is "On the Record" but by the time I noticed everyone was likely in bed. Loved the talk.

I have posted the links to video and transcript in a thread of its own. The video has the q and a, not the transcript.

I think I will suggest we transcribe the q and a...but since it isn't actually "we" but someone else who does the work, I don't know if it will happen (there is a massive amount of stuff already committed to and the transcribing committee is small...I've tried to do some, but my tech and skills just don't make it viable at this point).

The transcript is what he gave us, I believe, so may be slightly different if he adlibbed or added some thoughts.

Remind me.  I will forget that I made the suggestion in eleven months and probably won't think of it until after the conference like this year.  I need to ask the PTB before everything is neatly arranged, maybe ask for a table the northeast corner...though it gets noisy.  Maybe an announcement of where to meet if we can't get a table when Scott is making the announcements.  Maybe I will just make my own title of liberty variation to attract interested parties.  :)

It was fun to be at FAIR this year. Great talks on both days. Meeting lots of people, putting faces to many names. I probably overloaded a bit, meeting so many people who actually knew who I am. Publication is so often like dropping feathers down a well. At FAIR I actually had the opportunity to hear some splashes.

Margaret was delightful, as always. After lunch one day, I ran across Margaret talking with Maxine Hanks, and got a picture.

The Interpreter dinner on Saturday was also fun.

So are you ready to abnounce it?

(I have to rib you since you are always perfect in every way otherwise...  )  ;)
