Jared And Mahonri Moriancumr--Or Ara'ad And Mu-Anuriankh

I found this in my web surfing today and was fascinated by the connections this person presented in his introduction (he makes no factual claims).  Such as that these two brothers were Princes of Uber (which was an ancient Sumerian city).  As well as a Vedic connection.

Here.

Trying to google further on the names he used, at least the spelling, I did not come up with much further.  Reading through the Sumerian King List did not readily give clues.

The closest expansion of information is regarding the Prophet 'Ad or Hud:

Here.

Also I did see that the name "Erad" as used in the Bible was equivalent to "Jared", although the Erad in the Bible was a later person.

Anyway, has anyone else encountered or explored these possibilities, or am I already behind the times?

Possibilities of what?  That Joseph Smith had an internet access and a Google search engine?

@ERayR I love exploring anything ancient.  It was actually accidental that I landed on anything that had to do with the Book of Mormon (sort of) because I had been searching the Instructions of Surrupak, but since I mispelled it, ha ha, it gave me that first page I linked to because they also had the same misspelling.

I also enjoy connections between what is in the Book of Mormon to outside (ancient) references that Joseph Smith could not have otherwise known about.  I was curious if anyone, such as at Neal A. Maxwell Institute level of study had ever come across this, or anyone at a level of just "hey, I saw that somewhere", or if this was this guy's anomaly out of his own head or if there was somewhere he could have gotten it, since google did not bring me much.  So my best conclusion would be that it was just this guy's anomaly and I could get no more joy out of it.  :sorry:

But wait!  There are the smarties at mormondialogue.org!!! I could throw the idea out there and see what came up!  It was worth a chance before giving up :).

Since we both know Joseph didn't have google (except for the urim and thummim).

You might try writing FairMormon as the FM guys most likely familiar with ancient near east don't post here much these days (if at all) and so may miss it.

I don't remember ever discussing it at FM, so it may be new to everyone there as well, but they may know or know someone who knows who will be able to judge the likelihood.

I don't know that an internet connection and Google would have done him much good in this case.  If you search on those terms, the number one result is...this thread.

The rest appear to be that website, which oddly makes several factual claims without a single footnote or reference.  This could either be a great example of a Book of Mormon "hit" that Joseph Smith probably wouldn't have known, or that Mormons will believe anything they read if it supports their beliefs.

Interesting, non-the-less. Maybe someone, somewhere has more information on those names and the time period from which they come.
