Duncan Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I remember reading something by the early church leaders about how a cat lady would receive celestial glory and not to see her as she is now, but to see her beautiful and worshipped by the cats she's helped in the celestial kingdom.Thank you and God bless!

I've never heard of that, Duncan... but as a cat lady who has rescued two shelter cats (the first was Charlie who I had for over 10 years; and now Bob... my big, beautiful Bob), the thought intrigues me... Robert F. Smith Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I've never heard of that, Duncan... but as a cat lady who has rescued two shelter cats (the first was Charlie who I had for over 10 years; and now Bob... my big, beautiful Bob), the thought intrigues me... GGOrson Pratt declared that animals will be with us in the Resurrection, including prairie dogs, so that maybe he was the one who mentioned a cat lady and her cats in the celestial kingdom. See his The Seer (1853-1854), online at https://archive.org/details/seereditedbyorso01unse . 1
strappinglad Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Good Ol' Orson Pratt ! Never one to hold back on his thoughts. When the European peoples first arrived on the northern prairies there were about 400 million prairie dogs. After a century or two shooting, poisoning, drowning, and exploding the gopher , there are about ....400 million of them. Tough species. 1
Buzzard Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 The concept of animal Resurrection is intriguing and sometimes a bit problematic. How far down the chain do you want to go? I'll subscribe to resurrecting all the fish in the local rivers-I promise only to catch and release in the afterlife! I have had a couple of dogs that I would love to have by my side in the eternities, and JS expressed the belief that his horse would be with him in the eternities. But do you resurrect all the bugs? What about mice and rats? Heaven won't be so heavenly if we have to share it with all the Black Widow spiders I've squished over the years. Personal belief is that we will have the ability to bring back those companion animals we want, but that animal resurrection won't be universal. But that's just an opinion. As for cats vs. dogs, dogs are a visible manifestation of God's infinite love for us. If cats were a bit larger, they would rip our throats out while we slept.
thesometimesaint Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Everyone needs a cat. If for nothing else than to teach us the meaning of relaxation.https://www.google.com/search?q=picture+of+relaxing+cat&client=firefox-a&hs=2J4&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbm=isch&source=iu&imgil=YUgnuFz_WoNBjM%253A%253Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fencrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com%252Fimages%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9GcSFVVKVvTCD2g5J7gfw5tpxY6ju2_eWZCLsKrJHdu6nPx6oCFre%253B428%253B331%253BesqoNINDfxAvrM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fin2lit.pbworks.com%25252Fw%25252Fpage%25252F7796192%25252Flolls&sa=X&ei=McLBUuvYJ8XuoATozYKoCw&ved=0CD0Q9QEwBg&biw=1366&bih=568#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=YUgnuFz_WoNBjM%3A%3BesqoNINDfxAvrM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fin2lit.pbworks.com%252Ff%252F1258681618%252Fcat_relaxing-pi.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fin2lit.pbworks.com%252Fw%252Fpage%252F7796192%252Flolls%3B428%3B331 Edited December 30, 2013 by thesometimesaint
Calm Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 The only way I learned how to relax around our cat was to kick him outside. He had been an outside cat of a relative, I made him an indoor cat to keep him from trying to get home and then because there were dogs and other animals including feral cats around...but the choice was outside or the pound and since he loved being outside....
urroner Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Adam and Eve said, 'Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day.Now we do not see you anymore. We are lonesome, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us.' And God said, I will create a companion for you so that you will know loveeven when you cannot see me. No matter of how selfish or childish you behave, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do.' God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve. And it was a very good animal. God was pleased. The new animal was very happy to be with Adam and Eve and wagged its tail.Adam said, 'Lord, I have named all the animals in the Kingdom, but I cannot think of a fitting name for this new animal.' God said, 'this new animal is a reflection of my love for you, so its name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call it DOG.'Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them. Adam and Eve were comforted. And God was pleased. And Dog was content and wagged his tail. But…It came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, “Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of complete adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well."God said, “I will create for them another companion who will be with them, and will see them just as they are. This companion will remind them of their limitations, and they will then know that they are not always worthy of adoration.”And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.And Cat would not obey Adam and Eve.And Cat flicked its tail in agitation. When Adam and Eve looked into Cat's eyes, they were always reminded that they were not the supreme beings. In time, Adam and Eve learned humility, and their character greatly improved, They learned to appreciate all the wonders in the world and became more worthy of God’s love.God was very pleased with his newest creation And Dog was happy tooAnd Cat…well Cat didn't give a damn one way or the other. 2

thesometimesaint Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Cats are the only domesticated animal that stays with us by choice.
Stone holm Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Cats are the only domesticated animal that stays with us by choice. They are just waiting for us to start worshipping them again. 1
urroner Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Duncan, I've looked and can't find it anywhere. 3
The Nehor Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I remember reading something by the early church leaders about how a cat lady would receive celestial glory and not to see her as she is now, but to see her beautiful and worshipped by the cats she's helped in the celestial kingdom.Thank you and God bless! sheilauk Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) If cat ladies are going to celestial glory I am not sure I want to go. No problem, I'm not sure that cats are Celestial Kingdom material and, as a cat lady, if there aren't any cats in the Celestial Kingdom, I'm not sure I'd want to go there! sheilauk Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 "Reasoning with your kitty? Best to skip the small talk and bring out the bribes."Yep. And even then, the kitties are likely to ignore you! I sometimes wonder why I like cats so much; I guess I just do! I have always liked your tagline, cdowis, makes me smile every time I read it!
The Nehor Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Cats are the only domesticated animal that stays with us by choice.Cats are the largest welfare state in America. Tell them to get a job!
sheilauk Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I think that cats probably reckon they have a job - being worshipped!
urroner Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I think that cats probably reckon they have a job - being worshipped! Cats honestly don't care if they are worshiped or not. What they really care about is being fed. 2
