Oh I don't know if we teach that much anymore in our church.........

Come on, Kerry. If you're going to do a mocking paraphrase, at least make the paraphrase relevantly close.

You don't actually have to adopt the critics' logical errors and sloppiness along with their positions.

Matthew 10:34

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Get thee behind me Satan!! This is fun. Let's pick scriptures and accuse people we don't like of violating them!

He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

Now wait a minute! I'm not supposed to quote scriptures to myself!

"I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies" (Psalm 139:22).

But wait. Who's speaking here? Bill Hamblin? Or Mark Beesley?

It's all so confusing.

The dyslexic fool sayeth in his heart "there is no dog."

Mark was quoting scripture to prove that Jesus was a total pacifist. I thought we were having a pick your favorite scripture to defend or refute so picked that one to refute the pacifism and to show such exercises are futile.

Whoops, I didn't realize we were playing select-a-scripture.

Some people have issues... this is for them..

"Every bed, whereon he lieth that hath the issue, is unclean: and every thing, whereon he sitteth, shall be unclean." -Leviticus 15:4

(I have some issues. They are stacked up by the couch - where I "sitteth".)

Mark kind of slipped it in there in #196. Sometimes it is kind of fun because then I can take either side of the issue, depending on what quotes I choose. Kind of neat, huh.

Ah, you're all a pack of gatekeepers of orthodoxy.

Not quite. If you go back and read what I wrote, you will see that I offered an opinion on what Jeus "might counsel otherwise in matters of this particular nature." It was not intended to be applied in an absolute matter.

Anyway, carry on. Glad I could provide you all with some amusement. :-)

Now these are the words which Jesus taught his disciples that they should say unto the people.

Judge not unrighteously, that ye be not judged; but judge righteous judgment.

JST Matthew 7:1-2

What an apt one to apply to board nannies. I must bear it in mind.

Oh, there's another good one:

"Fools mock."

I'm reminded of the account of the the prophet Elijah mocking the priests of Baal.

Ding-ding. Your turn.

Would you consider Elijah a fool?

1 Kings 18:27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.

Maybe it would be a good idea to get the whole quote.

Proverbs 14:9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

I think he's alluding to Ether 12:26.

In either case the passage is being taken out of context.

You are under no obligation to sustain a conversation with me here. Don't get the impression from my bit of jocularity there that I think you are.
