Will You Be My Sycophant?

On the Exiles' Board and elsewhere on this one, wayfarer has had a habit of branding those who disagree with him as "sycophants." This has prompted the waggish calmoriah to announce that she is collecting sycophants and to invite some individuals to be her sycophants.

In the spirit of the upcoming holiday and of calmoriah's wry deed, I am opening this thread. Here, through Thursday, Feb. 14, which I unofficially declare to be Sycophants' Day, you may post your greetings and invite others, individually or collectively, to be your sycophants.

I'll get things started.

This goes out to our longsuffering moderators, who day after day shoulder the thankless task of enforcing board guidelines, filtering out uncivil speech, detecting straying inmates from the Exiles' Board and other sock puppets, reining in board nannies, and generally making this board a tolerable place for holding forth discussion. To these noble but anonymous men and/or women, I say:

Will you be my sycophants?

I do have a logistical question, namely: are competing claims of sycophancy mutually-exclusive? That is, can I be poly-sycophantically sealed to Joseph Smith, Calmoriah, Kevin Christensen, Maidservant, volgadon, Juliann, and mfbukowski all at the same time, or is this more of a Beyond The Veil sort of slavish toadying? Suppose I encountered an Angel, and out of Her mouth went a sharp twoedged Sword of Truth telling me to fawn over all of these tyrannical Morgbots, even if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way? The Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, you know. I would prefer the joints and marrow of my soul not to be divided asunder.

I do have a logistical question, namely: are competing claims of sycophancy mutually-exclusive? That is, can I be poly-sycophantically sealed to Joseph Smith, Calmoriah, Kevin Christensen, Maidservant, volgadon, Juliann, and mfbukowski all at the same time, or is this more of a Beyond The Veil sort of slavish toadying? Suppose I encountered an Angel, and out of Her mouth went a sharp twoedged Sword of Truth telling me to fawn over all of these tyrannical Morgbots, even if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way? I suspect poly-sycophantism has more in common with poly-theism than with polygamy. As such, it would be entirely legitimate for one to toady to more than one person as long as you don't put any of them "before" or in priority over the holy trinity of Dan Peterson, Louis Midgley and Bill Hamblin.

Sorry, you are disqualified based on this post alone. Anybody who gets as many rep points as you are getting on this post clearly indicates that you are no one's sycophant and thereby disqualified on that basis alone. Go away kid, ya bother me.

As it always works both ways -- I struggle with your way of acting, providing deference only for the core cabal, whilst failing to acknowledge a position remarkably similar to your own -- that to me really is a conundrum: it's a behavior I would call 'sycophant', and I'm sorry if that is direct, but that's where I come from. I am thinking that I do not yet have a nemesis (well, not on this board at least) so I do not qualify as one of the masters, so I fear that someone else...perhaps mfb because I have a suspicion he has just acquired one (nemesis that is)...will have to perform the forgiveness ritual for you.

I am wondering if I should change my avatar to the below or if I need to wait until I get taken on as a minion by one of the masters.
