Calm Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I don't know. If you saw Hitler, etc. surrounded by the people he had killed serving them humbly and with love and joy and all treating each other as a loving family member...he have asked for forgiveness and meant it down to the core of his being and having been granted it by all those he so wrongly abused down to the core of their being plus received God's forgiveness, I think that would be something very wonderful to see....hard to believe at this point, but with God all things are possible.OTOH, if that is not the scenario to greet my eyes, I'd rather he was off somewhere sulking on his own so no one else had to endure anymore from him, no matter how trivial.

And that's where they would be happiest staying.
blackstrap Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Even Hitler had a dog who loved him. I hope to reunite with all my past(passed) pets, except for the fish I lost while changing its water. Bummer!

Bummer! All the dogs my family has ever had have ... tolerated me. Save one. She, by contrast, thought I was The Bee's Knees. I think it'll be quite a reunion.
Kenngo1969 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) At the risk of a Godwin's law violation would this apply to Hitler, Pol Pot, the Glorious Leader of North Korea, that moron who cut me off this morning? I think not.How many sorrowful partings do you think those people experienced when they passed on? When it comes down to it, we don't have a lot of control over how we leave this life (leaving aside, for the moment, the theory that we may have, at some point, had some say over the circumstances of our death, but have since forgotten so). The only thing we have any control over is whether we make people (1) glad we died, or (2) sad we died. I suppose, no matter who you are and what you've done, somebody will be sad when you die. Even many a serial killer has (or had) a mother, to whom he (with his face smeared with jam) brought a dandelion boquet. And no matter what the killer has done since then, that's the image of him his mother will always carry with her in her mind.P.S.: And by the way, I was attempting to offer someone a small degree of comfort as he contemplates his own mortality. The fact that my statement was ripped from this context to imply that I would defend the actions of people I would in no way defend is, quite frankly, offensive to me. Just so you know. The Nehor Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 P.S.: And by the way, I was attempting to offer someone a small degree of comfort as he contemplates his own mortality. Just so you know.General Advisory: When I deliberately and obviously misunderstand something you say I am not implying anything about you. I certainly am not implying you are defending mass-murdering sociopaths. You might be but I am not implying it.That did cross the boundaries of good taste. Please use good judgement with comments even if they were intended to be humorous or ironic.Possessing neither good judgement or good taste the Nehor contemplates his inevitable expulsion. The Nehor would also add that referring to oneself in the third person is an indicator of good mental health.

Nathair/|\ Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Buzzard, I wish you the best on yours. (And please ignore the extra "the". I didn't make the pic and don't have the software to fix it.)
Buzzard Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 Buzzard, I wish you the best on yours.(And please ignore the extra "the". I didn't make the pic and don't have the software to fix it.)I appreciate the thought, even though I am no Harry Potter fan. I infuriate my daughter by calling him Harry Pothead.
Calm Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Nathair, don't you think the picture would have been much more meaningful if it simply had a picture of the original Dumbledore on it? Combining the worlds of fact and fiction to make what is a very meaningful thought even about not so organised minds. And the use of "well organised minds" has special meaning for LDS, don't you think as well? Something I hadn't thought of before this post...(I lost interest in the Potter epic when it became all about teenage angst and another issue I won't go into as distracting from this thread too much).
rodheadlee Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Hey Buzzard could you ask if the Kolob Theorem is correct? I know the scientists are skeptical but it would fit some end time prophesy about the stars falling from the sky. You can come to me in a dream if the email isn't working.By the way I've been dead before, it wasn't much fun without the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm glad He gave me a Second Chance. I hope I'm not disappointing Him too much. Keep your faith until the end, until you see Him.
EllenMaksoud Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Found out yesterday that my Paradise or Spirit Prison PPI isn't too far into the future, a year or so, maybe eighteen months if I'm lucky. Well, that's no fun, but I've already beat the average life expectancy for Stage 4 recurrent cancer, so I'm living in bonus time, and I made my peace with the whole deal a while back, though I admit that the abyss looks steeper and deeper the closer you get to it.Anyway, not sure if they will let me post from the other side, but the smallest courtesy I can extend you MDB ruffians is what to ask the big guy if he gives me the chance to ask HIM any questions. So here is your shot, anything from deep doctrine to why he made your ears so big. You guys and gals give me a list, I'll try and run it by my interviewer and if possible, get back to you with his response. Why don't we have Missionaries doing Gangnam Style, at least at MTC? 1
Stargazer Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Even Hitler had a dog who loved him. I hope to reunite with all my past(passed) pets, except for the fish I lost while changing its water. Bummer!I'm sure he (the fish) has forgiven you by now.
Stargazer Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I'd come up with a question or two for you to ask, but if my wife follows through with her plan to treat her recently-discovered colon cancer using "alternative therapies" (herbs and the like) iinstead of surgery and radiation, then I will send those questions via her good offices. And I am sorry to hear of your situation! But at least you know the imminence of your next mission call. I hear it is getting very busy over on the other side, preparing for the Lord's return. You won't be bored!
Storm Rider Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 For a disciple of Christ death is the great release from this probationary period. In a very real sense it indicates that your race is finished, you will enter a period of rest from the barrage of temptations from the evil one and your body will not longer be a source of pain. I do not pity you for this release, but I envy the release you will experience. My prayer is that you are ready for this transition and you are able to look forward to meeting your Savior and your Father; that your heart is full of love and any remorse has been set aside through a life of repentance and faith.
Kenngo1969 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Even Hitler had a dog who loved him. I hope to reunite with all my past(passed) pets, except for the fish I lost while changing its water. Bummer!Do we dare guess where the fish went as you were changing his water? (Apologies in advance for my seemingly-callous sense of humor. I haven't owned very many fish in my lifetime: they're not what I would consider very "companionable" animals. Dogs? Yeah. Cats? Yeah, okay. Rabbits? Yeah. Fish, lizards, snakes, and the like? Fascinating, yeah, but I might wonder about someone who formed what I might consider an overly-sentimental attachment to such an animal (although one's age at acquiring the animal probably makes a difference.)Condolences on your loss, all the same.
