rodheadlee Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Right now Hurricane Sandy is scheduled to make landfall in the NYC Long Island area on Tuesday and drive north through the states after brushing the East Coast from South Carolina to Cape Hatteras. Perhaps with some prayer Heavenly Father can steer her out to sea where she will do less damage?Of course other models show landfall in a more southerly position but my GRIB files are usually accurate.Thank You. 2
bluebell Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I read on the news that the experts are worried about another 'perfect storm' brewing. They'll be in my prayers. 1

Garden Girl Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I grew up in Calif with its earthquakes... I live on the Oregon coast in a tsunami zone and have even been evacuated... but my heart goes out to all of the eastern coastal states every year when they face the hurricanes... and the midwest with its tornadoes. My prayers go forward for the East Coast as Sandy approaches...from the beach... GG 1
Calm Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Hurricanes seem to be the worst for the most constant and amount of damage. Tornadoes and earthquakes aren't yearly things for the same areas.
blackstrap Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Where I live we do not have hurricanes, but the wind does blow quite hard 90% of the time.We do have lots of wind farms.Too bad that the terrible power of the hurricane could not be harnessed to the benefit of man.
rodheadlee Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 Atlanta will not be good come Sunday...outer bands.I'm in Brunswick, we're ok today. Sandy is way offshore, only gusts to 23 kts, no rain. I worry about my friends up in the Big City. 2

Calm Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 It's a great day for a birthday.....I am having one myself today in fact. 2

Garden Girl Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Speaking of, everything okay up your way?Fortunately, all is well... and the last reports I heard of the tsunami waves in Hawaii was that they were fairly small. Thanks... and happy birthday...GG
Calm Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Thank you all. The only thing I wish I had been able to do is go to the Calgary temple dedication....that would have been a great present. Instead though we got new carpet for our downstairs yesterday, something we've needed since we moved in ( it was a horrid lattice floral pattern, so not my style) and now for fun I get to figure out how to put the two rooms back together and decorate the stairway. 1

The Nehor Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 No. Burn Baby Burn. I am a terrible person and I apologize.
Calm Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Well Mama had 70+ people show throughout the day, for an introvert like me...IT WAS EXHAUSTING, and fun. Sounds like a great time. I prefer slow days myself, then a big celebration several days later for my husband's birthday. Very convenient having them so close together. If the kids forget mine, they never forget their dad's who I think it matters more to (I am not a party person, save for two people parties). 1
