nealr Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Yes, I will. I simply wanted to test the discount coupon application at DeseretBook.com. I expect I'll gift this copy someone else. Well, if you need someone to give it too, I am always accepting gifts Seriously, though, I have Deseret Book's platinum rewards membership, and so I plan on using those points to discount it (depending on if that is a better deal than my 25%. Also, if you get their monthly catalog, it has a 25% off coupon. The one I currently have expires on September 8. If the book isn't out by then, I should nonetheless have a new coupon that will expire first week of October at that point. 1
cursor Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Something tells me that I'll be getting a personal, autographed copy from the author. =) I've just prepared a notice regarding the DB discount. Please feel free to share the link/document with all that you feel might be interested:http://www.johnlsorenson.com/docs/mcodex_DB-coupon.pdf Edited August 22, 2013 by cursor
cursor Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Note that another digital coupon code works for 25% off any DeseretBook.com purchase (NCY25). No expiration date applies, apparently. Edited August 22, 2013 by cursor
nealr Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Mormon's Codex is now available for pre-order through the FairMormon Bookstore, at 20% off: http://bookstore.fairlds.org/product.php?id_product=1516 So, if you missed the 30% off through DB, here's a chance to still get a deal. 2
cursor Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I just received via email a complete set of galley proofs of Mormon's Codex: An Ancient American Book. Translation into Spanish has now begun. 1
canard78 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 "Jello belt" ... not a term that I've previously heard! Glad that you got yours. In a week or two you should have your awesome volume. Read UP!I'll have to wait a couple of extra months to get mine in UK. I went for the cheapest shipping option. I think it might have been quicker by Jaredite barge!I presume that once the book is out this will be the best place to discuss sections of interest? 2
rodheadlee Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Yes, I will. I simply wanted to test the discount coupon application at DeseretBook.com. I expect I'll gift this copy someone else. My birthday is coming up next February. 1
cursor Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I presume that once the book is out this will be the best place to discuss sections of interest? Sounds reasonable to me.
helaman38 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Actually, the two of us have very recently been discussing the possibility of doing a Mormon's Atlas. Our current outline identifies 42 distinct maps. No offense but wouldn't you bring more honor to your father if you both worked on a collaborated text called "The Confessions, Admissions, and Corrections of Dr. John Sorenson." I mean, no other person has ignored the prophecies of the BoM and where they were fulfilled more than your dad and no one has ignored the official statements of one Cumorah there in Palmyra more than your father. Do you both really want to go down in history like that? You are out of the thread and within a post of being thrown off the board. Clean it up. Last warning.
Calm Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) What a truly absurd post.Hope your dad got a good laugh out of the one sided exchange. Edited September 1, 2013 by calmoriah 1
Bob Crockett Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 As much as I might disagree with Dr. Sorenson, it is only in part . He's done more ot educate me on the structure of parts of the BoM than anybody. I look forward to Codex. 1
cursor Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 What a truly absurd post.Hope your dad got a good laugh out of the one sided exchange. I won't waste his time by bugging him with it. 1
Robert F. Smith Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I won't waste his time by bugging him with it. Who I really feel sorry for is the helamaniac. He has to live with that anger and vitriol. Your Dad on the other hand is the very picture of calm. He has always been very kind to me, and helped me when I needed it. 2
cursor Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I was disappointed to hear from my dad over the weekend that he still hasn't received his pre-release copy of Mormon's Codex. That means that my copy is even further away than I'd hoped. Drat.
nealr Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Yeah, Deseret Book told the FairMormon (formally FAIR) Bookstore that it would be out October 15. The good news about that is it will give me time to actually get settled into the semester before I have a huge, 800+ page distraction. 1
cursor Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I got word from my dad this morning that Mormon's Codex books arrived at the Deseret Book warehouse yesterday. Early next week they'll be ready for pre-order fulfillment. 2

nealr Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Today my friend got his copy in the mail and text me about it, so I decided to skip Institute to check and see it was on the shelves. I walked into the Deseret Book at University Mall in Orem, and lo and behold, there it was. A beautiful site to see. Of course, I bought it and I have read the first two chapters (and browsed the whole book). Not sure when I'll get to probe it further, with school and everything else going on, but I'm quite excited to really get into it. 1
