I loved gardening... and had a beautiful English cottage style garden in my backyard... but alas, I no longer am able to do the work (and I used to do it ALL)... my knee replacement is a problem when I try and get down on all fours, or climb, etc etc. So now I just do the light work and have some regular gardeners that do all the heavy stuff and keep my yard at least looking nice... trimmed and weed free. Some of the perrenials still bloom. It is still lovely...

Love your blue frog avatar. A friend of mine actually has a blue green tree frog.

Thanks!

My old avatar went away when the board changed to the new format and so I decided to try something new this go 'round. I've always loved frogs and there's actually a connection between frogs and mountain bluebells for me so the frog seemed appropriate. :D

In my case, I've used the first 3 letters of my first name + the first 3 letters of my last name.

cursor = curTIS + sorENSON

Mine is Gaelic for serpent. It references the one in 2 Nephi 25:20, the one on the Gadsden flag, the feathered one from Mesoamerica and the ones that St. Patrick drove out of Ireland.

Cal, I love that Lovecraftian puppet. Where'd you find it?

Just an Amazon store, search for "cthulhu hand puppet" in toys and games". Got her one of these as well, but it was just spring green, not glow in the dark and it came with two little human figures to sacrifice: http://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Cthulhu-Glow---Dark/dp/B002VCZ7JO/ref=sr_1_55?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1340773359&sr=1-55&keywords=cthulhu (see this one without any colouring: http://www.amazon.com/Cthulhu-DIY-Blank-White/dp/B004Y8DJ8E/ref=dp_cp_ob_t_title_1 ) We got her a really gothicky nasty looking sword to go with them....or it may have been a dagger, I've lost track....

For about ten years, we'd buy her a type of weapon each year for Christmas and I'd come up with a theme to go with it. The first year, I thought of this like the day or two before Christmas, we had gotten her the book "Zombie Survival Manual" or some such thing, can't remember the exact name and as it recommended a crowbar as the ideal weapon, got her one of those and my husband painted it to match the weapon (I think he used a blowdryer on it for the paint to be dry enough on Christmas morn) in one of her favourite video games and then I got a lot of camo clothing for herself and my grandson...no granddaughter at the time (the grandkids get their version of the weapon and theme at the same time) and a camo outfit for the teddy bear she's had since we went to Russia when she was five (the teddy bear gets a new matching outfit every year as well). Had to stop after about 6 years as not only was I running out of ideas, but room for her weapons. Last one we did was a Winnie the Pooh theme with wooden swords and paper hats like Christopher Robin had when they went off to explore the North Pole in the original books. She got Eeyore feet in them pjs (yes, she is more or less an adult now but that doesn't mean I am plus she vaguely remembered how she used to live in them as a toddler and had said awhile back she wanted a pair just to see what it felt like again), grandkids got English style clothing plus books having tons of pooh bear toys already from their mom over the years and her teddy bear got an Eeyore outfit...figured I never could top that last one for Teddy ( http://www.buildabea...e&selected= ) so it was a good time to quit....but I still did a little theme last year with Ponyo, a Ghibli movie for her, a stuffed Ponyo for my granddaughter and a little PutPut boat for my grandson like they have in the movie. Wanted to find noodle bowls for them all like the movie, but they do't appear to actually make those, not even in Japan as I came across a number of other parents looking for the same thing. Nothing for Teddy, I was very embarrassed about that but I thought the putput boat was pushing the level of creativity that year.

I am hoping this Christmas she will be back to enjoying life again since her hyperthyroidism will have been under control for about 8 months and hopefully she will have been able to keep her diabetes as under tight control as she has for several months now and maybe her body will figure out it doesn't have to be in constant anxiety any more. If so, I will be going all out again and may come to the board for help with some grandiose idea, lol.

Here is something else you could get for a halloween druid outfit ;): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HQ5UF2/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0006JGW7U&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=111C8PN8NSMNYZF9C54Z

Did I ever show you the puppet I got my daughter to memorialize your awesomeness?:

I have one of those on my desk at work. Great conversation piece.

"He Cthulhu. He's cute. He's cuddly. He can rend the fabric of space and time."

My favorite band in high school was Alter Bridge (they're still one of my favorites). A friend of mine jokingly gave me the nickname "Alter Steve" and I kind of us that for every internet forum now.

My father nicknamed me "Hair Bear Bunch" because I have a lot of body and facial hair, where he hasn't. Maybe he did it out of jealousy because I make being hairy look good, lol :) Anyway, the nickname stuck and everyone calls me Hair Bear.

We just call my dad "Throwback".

My lovely spouse is a Spud, and apparently in SE Idaho, at least in her extended family/friends, "Buzzard" is a mild pejorative. As in, if she is a bit miffed with me, she will say: "You buzzard!" , or if something was hard, "Cleaning the kitchen was a real buzzard last night".

"Selek" was the name of my first Star Trek RPG character.

I'm revealing more of my geek side here...were you playing as a Vulcan?

Many years ago when I first joined, my business focused more on personal financial planning and 'Freedom' was my mantra as in financial freedom. I changed it to 'Freedom of Choice' rather than 'financial freedom' because, in truth, only the supper rich truly achieve financial freedom. I now represent property owners rather than help them invest so I provide them a different type of freedom, and I always tell my clients 'I don't care if you do what I say, just that you listen to what I have to say'.

As a reference to uproar going on in the dialogue section about a certain institute, I think some people have forgotten that they have the freedom to read what they want and publish where they want, or to pray where they want, or to work where they want. Those who live in developed nations who have the time and resources to spend lamenting the academic state of the church need to step back and realize that just having the freedom to say that is a rare gift. Most, given the opportunity to post on this board, would be begging for food or medical care.

We have freedom and the trivial concerns that gets us in an uproar on this board are of no consequence. We have freedom beyond measure and we should rejoice.

Because astronomy is a sometime hobby of mine. I've never owned a telescope, but many professional astronomers nver get near one, anyway.

I've loved maps since I was about six when my dad explained to me how to use a map my parents were looking at to plan a trip. I started to read the Chronicles of Narnia and the Hobbit a few years later and loved to examine the maps about as much as I loved to read the books. I was introduced to Book of Mormon geography on the internet when I was a teenager and became kind of passionate about it, which was when I signed up on this board. I still love maps, but ever since I started college I've become more interested in history and philosophy.
