We know that all men will be resurrected, but what about the beard thing? Will all men have beards in the next life? Stephen and Joseph Smith never really said the Father and Son had beards, but Joseph never said they were clean shaven. In most of the depictions of Moroni, he's clean shaven; however the Father and Son are always shown as having beards.Any self respecting Greek knew that Zeus, Poseidon and Hades had beards, but Apollo and Hermes didn't...well, most of the time (vases may vary). Likewise, we know that Lehi, Laman and Lemuel had beards, but Nephi didn't. I've thought about it...probably more than I should...and I don't really want a beard in the afterlife. We know that not a hair of our heads will be lost, but I just want to appear as I am now and I don't want to shave. Shoot, at BYU back in the 70s, only women were allowed to have facial hair...which brings up another doctrinal question. Are women going to be resurrected with...well, you get the point. Glamor photos of women don't sell unless five pounds of hot wax is brought in and there's some screaming (something most men could not bear...the wax, not the screaming). So if we're all resurrected with every hair intact, this could create some problems I never read about in Doctrines of Salvation. There's something fatherly and wise about men with beards. But I don't want one. You don't think we'll have to shave, do you? And while no one looks askance at a bald man, if a bald angel appeared, we'd probably laugh our heads off. I mean, what if Moroni had appeared to Joseph as a bald, clean shaven man? That's not something I'd expect to see in a church movie. Or what if Adam had been bald? He might get away with it if he had a beard, but we know Adam didn't have a beard, right? No depiction of Adam I've seen ever shows him with a beard.So what do you think?

After all, this issue is grave enough for General Authorities to address in various settings. Many people in church (myself included) are taken to task by people in ecclesiastical authority because of facial hair or hair length. Missionaries are supposed to be clean shaven and have short hair. We pressure our youth to conform.It's too easy to dismiss this issue but at the same time it's too silly to be taken seriously.

Given the acceptance of bearded imagery in LDS literature, I think there might be at least anecdotal support for beards in an LDS paradigm. Dunno really.The only argument against beards that I could think of would be entirely speculative on my part. But I will submit it. I have always been amazed that those closest to Jesus did not seem to recognize him after his resurrection. Lot's of speculation has been offered over time as to why this was the case. To toss a bit more speculation at the notion, perhaps it is possible he didn't have a beard.My personal opinion is that I don't really have a clue about it, but I feel I will be pleasantly surprised with however it works out.

The perfect human body has not been defined in revelation, except in terms of spiritual glory, continuation of the seed and Joseph Smith's descriptions of the Father, Son and other resurrected beings. The Lord created the earth to have beauty in variety, and presumably His children also, so is seems there is no single standard of physical perfection. I think that to a degree perfect bodies can define their perfect frame. The degree of glory may determine how much ability. Maybe the things eaten, or other factors, on different kingdoms may affect a person's form. So I think resurrected hair can be "...straight, curly, fuzzy, snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty / Oily, greasy, fleecy, shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen / Knotted, polka dotted, twisted, beaded, braided / Powered, flowered and confettied / Bangled, tangled, spangled and spaghettied..." or even absent.

Porter did only once, like Sampson, and for a woman, but he, like Sampson grew it back again and regained his strength. Orson Pratt and others also had long hair and many of the frontiersmen had long hair. I, too, wondered why Jesus wasn't recognized. I think some sort of veil was put over their minds, but I don't know. The church has been a bit hard-nosed on people who have facial hair, but I believe just doing things their way is the easiest path. But if we're all resurrected with hair, just imagine the problem Yule Brenner will have introducing himself."I tell ya, lady, I'm Yule Brenner!""How come you don't look like Yule Brenner? That is a nuisance as well.
