I need prayers for my cat Boots. He is a teenager and he got in a fight with another cat and he's pretty wounded with a slow recovery. I can't afford another 500 bucks to take him to the vet. I would appreciate all your prayers. Thank you. Amazon early

We recently became the caretakers of our granddaughter's two cats, one of which is in his teens, but he still fancies himself a warrior.  Despite our repeated lectures and warnings he picked a fight with the cat across the street, who has the strength of a small panther.  For a week or so after the fight Sam slept inside almost all the time and we fed him all the canned cat food he wanted, my theory being that he needed the protein to rebuild.  We also put neosporin on his open wounds.  It seems to have worked.

I spoke with the neighbor and her cat Harley (so named because of his deep rumbly purr) also spent a week sleeping off the aftereffects.

Prayers inbound.

Boots is doing a lot of sleeping he doesn't eat much. He gets out there and jumps up and down when the food's delivered but he picks at it. I don't know if he'll let me pick him up to put Neosporin on him. He is very flighty around people. He let me pet him for the first time this morning.

I highly suggest this wound spray. We use it for both disinfecting and healing.

My neighbor, the BYU biologist, invented it a number of years ago. It’s even approved for humans in Canada (used in hospitals to prevent infections during COVID) and is going through the hoops for FDA approval. Had some very good results with diabetic skin sores that wouldn’t heal in Samoa clinical testing (they have poor medical resources for care of diabetes there).

We use it all the time on ourselves.  My daughter hasn’t had any infections from her insets for her pump since she started using.

However, neither I nor my friend would recommend it for use on humans within the borders of the US as that would be wrong.  I am just using myself and my family as examples of why it would work well for your cat without you having to touch him.  :)

I would try the spray rather than the gel as the gel makes it hard to swallow (I accidentally used the gel instead of the spray to stop a sore throat developing, which it did after making me gag a few times).  If the cat licks the gel, I don’t know if it would make him gag.

In fact, if you want to message me your address, I will have Amazon drop some off for you.

We had a gray tom cat who would come home with a bloody face very often because of fights he got into. 😟
Fortunately it wasn't bad enough to have to take him to the vet.

Heavenly Father, Please help the stewards of the cat known as Boots. If it is Your will, please restore him to health and strength. Amen.

He is drinking a lot of water but he runs up to the can food plate and just smells it and walks away. I hope he's munching on dry food when no one's looking. Thanks for all your prayers. I've had my dad in the ER room two nights in a row so I really haven't had time to even think about capturing Boots and taking him to the vet.

Ok, Heavenly Father has answered our prayers. Boots jumped up ate breakfast and started grooming himself. Thank you all for your prayers.

You keep this up and you're gonna put your vet out of business...

Seriously, I think unity of intention in prayer is a powerful thing.

Veterinarians used to be affordable. My one non feral cat they want $300 for a blood test to continue her medication. She's on thyroid medication and she's 9 years old and it made a big difference.

It's too bad there's not one of those 'cheap' vets that only do shots, neutering/spaying, and mild illnesses near you guys.  They are so much cheaper.  Have you thought about checking in with the local shelter or animal rescue to see if they have any leads on cheaper vets or vet clinics that pop up every now.
