I am actually not so keen on that. Probably because I'm old, decrepit, and like things the way they used to be. One thing that I don't like on men's garments is what I call the "smile" garment collar where it swoops down and up like a smile. You can see it through most white or thin shirts. Now they have the v-neck and one that you can see that goes clear up to the neck. I don't mind the v-neck one but I mind the one that's seeable and turns a gray-ish or yellow-ish color on my husband. Maybe my poor laundry abilities. Something I might be doing wrong. I hope the church will actually make cotton garments one day, I don't know why they don't now. 1

I learned a few years ago that you aren't supposed to because it can turn them the wrong color and make them dingy looking. You aren't supposed to use fabric softener or dryer sheets with them either I guess. 1

Maybe it's my husband's skin reaction or the type of work. He was an iron worker for 25 years and now works with water treatment for commercial buildings and welds and makes electrical panels. I have a friend that uses bleach on them and it seems she seemed to have good luck. 🤷♀️ Edited April 25, 2024 by Tacenda 1

Test the method of whitening on one piece before using it on many just in case it makes things worse. We use vinegar mostly. Sometimes a non bleach like Clorox 2 or oxyclean…or my husband does, he uses fabric softener and other stuff that yellows his, mine don’t get yellowed. I use dryer wool balls. I use all cotton or the cotton/spandex with the mesh panels for cooling added: oops, forgot the link https://www.wearespruce.co/blogs/cleaning/how-to-whiten-white-clothes-that-have-yellowed#:~:text=Vinegar Soak for Stubborn Yellow Stains&text=Fill a large bucket or,and wash them as usual. All cotton tends to be thicker these days or at least the last time I bought them. They last longer especially since I wear them mainly just in winter these days. If you don’t like the style they come in, you might be able to get them to do a custom order of the all cotton fabric in the style you want. It used to be pretty easy, not sure if it’s gotten more difficult as I bet there are more asking for this option these days. Of course, my custom orders were for health reasons and obviously not for fashion (I was ordering the longer bottoms in all cotton), so that might have affected the ease of approval. Tacenda Posted April 25, 2024 Author Posted April 25, 2024 https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/tools/help/garment-changes?lang=eng I should have read this a long while ago. New information about the garment. I've been buying the same kind for awhile now and hadn't known about some of these changes. For men as well, the higher garment neckline is now more hidden and not riding as high. And I guess many come in 95% cotton and 5% spandex for men and women. I like this from the article my bolded part made me kind of smile and I think I've been wrong in using hot water to wash garments all this time: Updated Mid-calf Garment Bottom All sisters can benefit from the newly redesigned mid-calf bottom in Stretch Cotton fabric, which features an extra-wide “yoga”-style waistband made of stretch mesh. The leg cuffs are made of the same stretch mesh fabric, which is also included in the inner-leg panels for better airflow and faster drying time. Benefits of mid-calf bottoms include extra warmth, cleaner lines beneath clothing, and fabulous full-body comfort. Mid-calf garment bottoms work especially well under maxi skirts, jeans, and leggings. 2

I got the "yoga" ones too for playing pickleball in. Just the right length for some of my "yoga" pants. No more worrying about the lines. Thanks! 2

This is what I was pondering when I went into a Catholic chapel in a Catholic seminary for becoming a priest, after reading Moroni 10:3 to what- Moroni 10:6? A God who cares for humanity MUST be able to communicate with each human on their own level for such a paradigm to make sense, and so we have Moroni 10 and verifying it in the Bible, James 5:1 So I prayed about it and had a life-changing religious experience. Could you please direct me to the post that Calm was worried about? That describes your experience?

I MEANT to say: "It makes no sense whatsoever to postulate that God exists and wants us to become like Him, if there is no way for Him to communicate with us!" Without confirmation that he exists on a personal basis, it is all hearsay that he exists, or at least that is the way I see it. And the quote was not from Calm, but @Tacenda I am not sure what was unclear. What Calm said is not on this thread. Edited April 27, 2024 by mfbukowski

It doesn’t sound quite like something I would say, though I don’t say anything when I first read it as I can imagine related ideas I might mention that might get interpreted like that without it being my intention, but just being concerned of one person testifying of something wonderful because others might not be able to have that kind of spiritual experience doesn’t sound like something I would worry about. I find it hard to believe I told anyone not to share a personal experience as I am all about people sharing their own experiences with each other (and do it a lot myself so hopefully others feel more comfortable to open up), though I can see me saying be careful choosing the appropriate time and venue, but that’s a no brainer. You don’t gush about your wonderful three healthy children at a support group for families with children with terminal cancer unless they ask you to (perhaps your children are in remission). I was trying to ask you for the story of your receiving your testimony of the Book of Mormon. Which I thought had been posted somewhere here on MDDB, about which Calm/Tacenda had said you shouldn't tell it because it might discourage people who hadn't received such a strong one as you had. I was going to PM you to ask this, but your mailbox is apparently full, so I couldn't. I think my mailbox can receive PMs, so if you want to send it to me instead of posting it, feel free. Sorry for being vague!
