rodheadlee Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 (edited) We have a nest of ospreys at the boat yard it's at the top of a cell phone tower. The mother Osprey hit a power line and got killed. The chicks are about 2 months old to the best of my knowledge. The father had been bringing them food but I haven't seen him today. I listen to the chicks crying for food all day long it's really sad. Perhaps if we all pray that the father shows up with some fish for them to eat they'll get fed. Thank you Edited June 29, 2023 by rodheadlee 4
Calm Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 (edited) I am in. Ospreys are great birds. Found this: https://www.mlive.com/living/grand-rapids/2012/06/feathered_father_of_the_year_o.html Edited June 29, 2023 by Calm 2
Pyreaux Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 (edited) I'll pray. However, I must warn you, I never in my life was able to successfully bless an animal, but in God's defense, most of the time I was asking God to basically raise the dead at that such times. Edited June 29, 2023 by Pyreaux 2
MustardSeed Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 I’m a bird watcher and bird fan. I’m 54 so I have my binoculars and guide book on the windowsill like every good midlifer should. Here’s to pulling for the hungry babies! 3

Yesterday on my hike I ended up about 15 feet from a Cooper’s hawk that gave no cares that I was there. I’m still weirdly happy about that experience a day later. Today on a separate part of the trail I saw a hummingbird and a brilliant blue and orange sparrow sized bird that I had to look up (it was a lazuli bunting). I’m loving my bird watching years. 2

Did you ever take a class on birds? I ask because a gal I play pickleball with will say what kind of bird when it flies over us if it's one we're not use to seeing and she had taken a class.

Popular Post rodheadlee Posted July 2, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted July 2, 2023 Dad showed up with a new mom today. I've never seen such a thing she flew right in there and landed on the chicks and started ministering to them. Might be kind of like a miracle. He had been showing up twice a day and standing on the edge of the nest and looking in after dropping some food off I hope. 5
