MustardSeed Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 I won’t be. I don’t even know when it is, I suppose it has passed. I have often considered participating in Lent. 1

You have to be told how to do everything? No imagination? No research skills? I am capable of doing this, but these celebrations are very much entrenched in many Christian communities, but not really Mormon communities.

As a lifelong member of more than 5 decades, I have never been taught through Mormonism how to celebrate Palm Sunday. I was never taught through mormonism how to celebrate Easter either, but that never stopped me from observing it. 1
MiserereNobis Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Is there an LDS tradition/celebration that other Christians could observe?

Fast and testimony Sunday is once a month. Primary Program in that the kids read scriptures, etc and sing for Sacrament meeting one time a year. The theme is one they have been studying all year. Not sure how they do them now, but when I started teaching Primary, Salt Lake gave us a yearly and monthly theme with a list of songs and we could do what we wanted with them. Then they got pretty picky, loosened up again, not sure what is happening now. We used to have some pretty fun visual aids and even costumes. No more. There is usually a Mother’s Day program, but I know a lot of women who wouldn’t mind that being dropped. Edited April 22, 2023 by Calm

There is no place in Mass for individuals speaking. The same would probably apply for a children's program, though I could possibly imagine a non-traditional parish trying to work it in. I'm not saying this as a criticism at all. I'm just sharing how it wouldn't fit for Catholicism. 1

I predict a major fail. You'll probably be interested to know that Elder Stevenson's talk seems to have impacted at least this one Christian who is not a Latter-day Saint. He highlights Elder Stevenson's talk at the 22:46 mark of this video. He liked the "Christian cousins" terminology in his talk, and was impressed when he quoted N. T. Wright. His talk connected with him: 3
