General Conference word counts

Sorry for the confusion, I don't feel unsafe and unheard.  And I think your comments were important and valuable.

My purpose in entering this thread was because I thought it was hilarious that Tacenda thought it was Elder Gong who commented to the girl about her modest swimsuit.  And after a few others replied to her comment, I wondered if others may have thought the same.

I also wanted to defend Elder Gong who gave his talk on ministering instead of modesty.  I think he could have avoided this misunderstanding with a slight change in his story:

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and instead of saying, "Get lost, perv!!!", asked with a smile, “Would you like to come to church Sunday?”

(bold added by me)

Thank you.

You're right, the subjects of talks do get lost sometimes and that's not good.  I've noticed there is a huge thing about the water bottle example and everyone is having fun with it - which I think is good fun.  But the subject was about following the prophet and the example given was that the prophet was thinking of others which goes perfectly with his talk on peacemakers.  It makes me a little sad that both the words on ministering, following the prophet and kindness have been hidden.

But right now, the topic is avoided (according to my gopher pup in the program who is frustrated by the silence).

That doesn’t surprise me as I think many know what not to say but haven’t yet caught on to what is positive to say and how to say it.  They are wisely first doing no harm, but aren’t aware of where to go to get good material.

Love the addition.  :)

Thank you Dario, I’d much rather hear what you have to say than just wonder with the downvote.

Okay.....

But why do i need to explain myself actually? If somebody would downvote me the last thing i would do would be to go after that person and demand for an explantion.

I can't care less who wants to downvote me. Even if every single church member here would cover me in red i wouldn'd sleep a night less better from it.

Sometimes i'm just not agree with somebody and because my English is so poor i don't always can react back. For me it cost me 3 times more effort to place a post in compare with you guys. So downvoting somebody is just easer.

Sorry for the offtopic btw.

Do whatever you want to do. I only shared my preference.

I’m going to teach you about the culture of this message board. When topics run dry, or reasonably dry, there is much more flexibility with offshoots. This is not a rule that’s articulated in the rulebook. Instead, it’s a social understanding. If the original poster prefers to take things back on topic, at that point, then we all respect the request.
Another rule in the rulebook is no board nannying. This means that it is inappropriate to call people out for breaking the rules. We are to leave that to the mods.  If you are upset, ping the mod.

I think it is the tv newscaster voice.

I served my mission in Georgia and Alabama, and early in my mission while visiting with a member family in Alabama we were talking about southern accents (the family all had thick southern accents), and I asked them what kind of accent I had.  I am from Arizona, and was told that I sounded like a newscaster voice (not that I talk like a newscaster, but my "accent" was like a newscaster).
