Would knowing the case well enough you want to be on the jury potentially be a cause for dismissal?  I don’t know how jury selection works, except the ideal is to approach it without bias that will not change in the face of new information.

On the federal level a grand jury doesn’t have to be unbiased. They technically should be but there is basically no enforcement. On the state level I don’t know enough to say and it probably varies by state.

Basically a grand jury is not “guilty or not guilty”. It is just a decision on whether there is enough evidence to make the case worth consideration. On the federal level the defense is not even present in almost all cases and the prosecutor also functions as the judge. Federal grand juries have rates of moving to trial in the high nineties in terms of percentages and most states are similar. Since the prosecutor also gives jury instructions, decides what to admit, and presents the evidence they can almost alway ‘win’ if they want to. They can also bring in evidence that would be inadmissible in a regular trial. The prosecutor can also intentionally lose if they want to and both of these cases can snarl up justice. I personally think grand juries are almost always a waste of time and money. They are basically grandfathered in from the British legal system and were originally used as a check against the Crown launching pointless legal battles. Due to the Constitution we are stuck with it on the federal level at least. Most states use the grand jury system only rarely for certain types of crimes and some do not use it at all.

Watching the Lifetime movie of Lori Daybell now.

Please review….I suppose it might be helpful for those coming to it late due to it being crazy complicated if you thrown in sibling and ex husband stuff on LVD’s side.  Got to wonder what they will do on the CD side to spice stuff up.

It is obviously capitalizing on the current interest as there is likely a lot of info yet to come out. It feels so premature, like someone in their 20’s writing an autobiography called “My Life” when most of it is still to happen.

Guess they can just do a reboot posttrial.

Okay, .I just got on Lifetime for the first time in my life....12 commercials?

Missing sunglasses on Alex...oh my, I don’t think I am going to be able to take it.  They are using police transcripts and reports and interview for dialogue, so looks like dialogue pretty much wrote itself.  Surprised at some of the actors.  Wonder it they have a contract to do so many movies for lifetime.

There is no development of the relationship...weird, weird...more commercials already.  Must be a sign, back to my Asian TV.

It was the weirdest. Spoiler alert, at the very end, they show Lori as being so insane as she is talking to fellow inmates and tells them that her lawyer is actually her son and that she had a dream or vision, that she had sex with someone and he was their child or something like that. I wonder how true that is, her telling the two women this. And using one of the women's Boston Beans candy after she licks it as a lipstick and rouge right before she sees her lawyer.

I can see the scriptwriters spending a couple of days skimming the online discussions to get ideas, lol.

There was a lot of talk about how she managed the makeup for her first appearance. Jolly Ranchers were mentioned most where I hung out. I wonder if Boston Beans bosses groaned or high-fived when it was mentioned as you mentioned it made me look it up. Not a candy I paid attention to in the past.

People assume she is obsessed with her looks (her choice of career, her appearance on Mrs. Texas may be evidence of it) and they obsess over how she is managing with some satisfaction it must be bugging her big time.

Why it couldn’t have just been her lawyer trying to have her appear normal for the TV, I don’t know.   Not that it was a great color choice for her, so who knows.

How far did they take it to?  Any hearings, grand jury charges included?

I guessed it was Boston Baked Beans, it may have been something else that was round, sorry. But it looked just like them from what I recall. What else could it be, little hot jawbreakers? She deserved the pain, if so.

At the end it brought us up to speed and mentioned the charges and that Lori was found unsuitable to go to trial yet, but it laid out the charges for Chad as it closed the show and showed the credits, I believe. If you want you could go watch the very end and it will show the part with Lori using the candy as lipstick.

I kept thinking of Chad and Lori's families and the hardship that they are going through. I can't think of anything worse.

I watched from the time she was arrested. Now I am wondering what they got to fill between the ten minutes at the beginning and ten at the end. They skipped stuff I would have included. They really have her as some airhead and him so blah.

I did not recognize the bag to see what candy it might be, watching on phone so not seeing much details. I can’t believe they left out him sitting in his car and then driving off instead of him sitting at home under guard which he specifically rejected. Totally wrong and so much more boring. Probably to save money.  And the actor…guessing he didn’t listen to the tape or couldn’t handle the sulky little boy voice that Daybell used.

If I was a cell mate, I would definitely be taken notes in order to sell.  Wonder if anyone actually talked.  Will have to see what Websleuths has to say about it now on Mainstream media (they avoid the gossip and keep civil which is why I decided to limit myself to them).

Looks like Lifetime is helping make the case of Alex doing the dirty work since Daybell isn’t present during disposal of the bodies.  Is there any outright picturing of the two of them doing anything criminal or just Alex?

What did you think about the portrayal of the Church?  That might be the only reason I force myself to watch it. It was so uncomfortable having seen the real people involved.  It felt like it cheapened them, was dismissive when they were inaccurate.

Supposedly accurate, but superficial. From what I saw, they didn’t bother with the details that could have made it more interesting. It felt so slow, but no depth to it.

So someone who watched it said Colby and Gibb’s boyfriend and the niece’s husband weren’t in it. Another missed opportunity for the drama, Ian Pawlowski working with the FBI trying to record supposedly.  They must have referenced the letter/summary he wrote because a lot of he was crazy stuff came from there.

Was there any mention of Colby?  I wonder if he refused permission.

Could he sue if they used his videos and interviews that were made public?  Can they use any new or do they have do buy it from the owners?

I would love to know if the “affair” with an angel is from report by a former cell mate or creative license (don’t know if the real LVD thought that way as 5 husbands and how she got involved with them seems to imply she didn’t have the same attitudes towards relationships that most Saints have in my experience…but why not just add the angel as a marriage like the rest, an affair seems inconsistent to her behaviour in real life and in the fantasies) and Means as her ‘blue eyed son’….If so, I am feeling sorry for him where in the past he has come across as rather mercenary and nasty in his tweets…and a bit incompetent given his writing. How embarrassing for Means if it’s not true and the writers just thought him fair game to use like that.   If true, how freaky working for someone who is so out there and trying to draw you into her fantasies. At least he is not another of her past lives’ husbands.

So wandering a bit…I can’t remember if it has been shared that Julie Rowe has been divorced and apparently she recently shared she had a dream/vision he was going to die. The poor man after standing by her for so long.  I so hope he has full custody.

Another participant in the folk prophets lineup set her off apparently by accusing her of acting inappropriately with Daybell (who she claimed assaulted her in her turnaround of support that occurred after the kids were found).

I may have to visit Freedom Forum to see if they have any details on the movie and Rowe.  The soap opera just keeps going. Hopefully the ex husband is security conscious.  If Rowe has anyone willing to be her friend still, maybe they can get her to walk that back some.

According to police, GPS data shows how Lori took Vallow’s rental vehicle and cell phone from the house at 7:49 a.m. The investigation uncovered Lori went to Burger King to buy food for JJ, and Walgreens to buy flip flops for her and Tylee. Lori finally returned home at 8:48 a.m.

Flip flops because their shoes had bloodstains on them perhaps and the shooting was supposed to have taken place after they left?

Quote

After Vallow was killed, Chad texted Lori.

“I got the inspiration to go back to my original death percentages that helped us track Charles, Ned, etc. Tammy is very close,” the message reads. “Her percentage has fallen steadily since Hiplos left. It is encouraging.”

Chad ended the text with a heart and lips emoji.

Just over the top crazy. (Hiplos is Charles)

Edited as changed link:

It does not give specific details about what the police did in investigating in that it is known that Tylee was not interviewed by herself but with her mother present, that a police officer at sometime was cleaning up the blood (and there is concern that this took place before forensics got there or if they even showed up).  Iirc, the explanation for the delay in knowing of previous calls to police when Charles was locked out of their previous house (not the rental where he died) a few months before is because it was in a different jurisdiction (Gilbert I believe, where Cox died), so the record wouldn’t automatically pop up for Chandler police sent out in response

Been overly dizzy and therefore stuck in bed more than usual the last few days and news is too depressing to fill all my hours, so I went wandering on an even more depressing topic…this thread.

Came across a blog done by a retired attorney providing useful details that one doesn’t have to wade through lots of commentary to get to.  She intends to eventually write a book. Apparently so does Mark Means, LVD’s attorney.  Doubt I will buy either one as likely will be so done with it by the time the various trials are over with years from now.

So now sharing…

Furthest this thread got down the second topic list page…news did an FOIA and got emails….

INVESTIGATING LORI VALLOW: Some new details of note through emails between Chandler PD, Gilbert PD and FBI…
- Lori booked a flight from Phoenix to Idaho the day after Tammy Daybell died.
- Lori’s iCloud record shows she took screenshots on a computer, including a purchase of two wedding bands silver with green inlay. Modification date on photo was 8/14/19. The bands appear to be similar to the ones Lori and Chad Daybell wear in wedding photos. But the maker of the bands had to cancel order because he was busy with school.
- Lori had two photos of significance showing rifle ammunition at a gun store in Idaho (9/23/19).
-iCloud records show time stamps of photos in Hawaii on 10/23/19, a California residence inn at La Miranda Burns Park 11/28/19-12/1/19. (We know Chad and Lori flew from LAX to Kauai on 12/1/19)
- Chad and Lori at Hawaii Temple on 11/12/19
-Alex Cox booked travel from PHX to Colombia from 7/14/19-7/19/19. He shot and killed Charles Vallow on 7/11/19…

added:

Flight booked in name of Lori Ryan from Idaho to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway on 10/8/19.

Can’t get FB to respond to give me a better link…got the original from websleuths

From WS,  Vallow thread #60:

“That would likely be Residence Inn by Marriott La Mirada Buena Park, which is 2.8 miles from Knott's Berry Farm where Chad went for Thanksgiving with his family.“

MISSOURI RESEARCH: This email in May 2020 tells us Chandler PD learned that Lori Vallow googled maps of the U.S. on 10/7/19, trying to find out how long it would take to drive from Rexburg to Independence, Missouri. She started looking for flights.
Police say she got a text from her brother Alex Cox asking where she was…
The messages were deleted but recovered.
Most of this email is redacted. On 10/8/19, Lori sent a text to her niece Melanie Boudreaux (Pawlowski). Police say it’s clear via pictures and videos that Lori stayed with Melani on 10/9. We know Lori had a flight booked from Idaho to AZ the day prior. We also know Alex Cox tried to shoot Tammy Daybell, Chad Daybell’s first wife on 10/9 in Idaho according to prosecutors.
Investigators believe she brought JJ Vallow’s IPad with her to AZ “Would be interesting to see if it connected in Missouri between the 10th and the 12th.

Apparently more detail on FB…but my tech isn’t working with FB, maybe have to log in

The photos and text messages released today by Chandler Police are chilling. A lot of these came from Lori Vallow's iCloud account.

- JJ at Yellowstone Bear World

- JJ in red pajamas the last day authorities believe he was alive

- Alex Cox at Mesa Falls taking photos days before police say Tylee was murdered

- Ammunition photos

- Chad with his hand on Lori's butt wearing a ring ordered online months earlier when Tammy was still alive

- Chad and Lori caught on a hidden surveillance camera in Hawaii

- Extremely worried text messages from Kay Woodcock begging Lori to see JJ

- Urgent emails from Kay to police urging them to check on JJ

JJ was found in red pajamas…

Long list pulling together the above stuff with additional material; describing with some pictures quite a few documents and info; fills in the day to day stuff…like shopping for ammo and family habits dumping unwanted dogs in the desert with Alex as the disposal guy and Lori’s efforts not to be around when stuff goes down, odd stuff like a trip to Columbia by Alex after a death…

A summary of events and beliefs of CD and LVD from a friend of a supposed insider. Nothing really new, but covers the important stuff decently, so may make it make more sense…not that the beliefs themselves are more sensible, every time I hear them they just sound more crazy.  I don’t see people who are practically perfect, translated beings as making a big thing over being the favorite whatever of anyone. And thinking that one was the Holy Ghost in a past life…wouldn’t it be a step down to be anything but a Saviour and least CD hadn’t apparently claimed that yet, most likely since basic Christian belief is this world already has one.
