D&C 109 for example, which seems to be mostly a petition for people (as does the 2002 dedication of the Nauvoo Temple). Also, it seems to be in the spirit of 2 Nephi 32: 9, "...ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul." changed Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Some people say they have experiences with the deceased ancestors they do work for - I had an experience once in the temple, and it wasn't a good one... in the washing and annointing... I did the work of a relative who was really angry, rightfully so I guess - one of the things in that ceremony was especially grating.... the deceased relative was there and was angry....the temple workers were afraid to do the rest of my family names. 2

There is no such thing as righteous anger when the anger is about ourselves - we are to forgive. It sounds like your ancestor wasn't quite ready. 1

I am not sure what this means frankly! First of all Jesus would beat him up and tell him to get out of his house. But then of course we bring in the influence of the adversary all by ourselves. He might not be there but we are as his messengers. It would be very possible for Satan to be in the Temple. If everyone is honest..sometimes you go through with bad feelings or life problems that would affect the spirit. Not everyone is happy going in and coming out..from my experience with relatives. So...yeah..Satan would have influence in the temple. How you deal with it is how you deal with things outside the temple.. An awful lot of sinners get temple recommends...hence, the devil is already there! Edited May 25, 2019 by Jeanne 1

I'm sorry that happened. I feel especially bad for you , since some of my most memorable and uplifting experiences were in initiatory doing proxy work for ancestors. Did you feel any foreboding before you took their name to the temple? Any sign that maybe you should wait--that they weren't ready? I think that's a good idea, especially if you knew the person and knew they needed to do some repenting and changing on the other side, to wait until you receive some prompting that they are ready and anxious to accept the temple work. It can't hurt to give them more time--they've got lots of it.🙂 1

Sadly, that would depend who gets in. We all bring problems to the Temple in hopes of leaving them there, but to often we take them back home with us. 2

And the energy I am personally trying to cultivate is peace, liberty, life, love, integrity, etc. And that kind of energy is what I call "GOD" and all human beings may participate in that energy. I teach about shrine and altar principles; shrine and altar principles are different but they can work together/i.e. overlap. Shrine is where there is (cultivated) a particular concentration of energy, as desired. Altar is where sacrifices are made. Temples are places of both shrine and altar; and steps are taken to make sure, yes, that there is a concentration of Christ and Father and Holy Ghost energy. I also accept the premise that WE are the gods and we are the devils--there are no others. And by 'WE' I mean there are an innumerable hosts of the 'race of the gods' or the 'human race' (which is to say the same thing) within [not on] innumerable worlds and on both sides of the veil. The individuals of this innumerable host are engaged in time and eternity with their own agency and capacity to create; they are each responsible for who they become and receive the harvest of the seeds they plant. The Father God and Satan are both in the temple every time, as portrayed. They are also both in the REAL temple, which is the world and our body.
