My bishop was a very forward thinking man but he cautioned me that such an offer would likely be turned down by our stake due to my sex. He said our stake leadership and bishops were not likely to take direction from a young woman. I’m sorry to say I believed him and did not pursue the idea further. I do think still there are many people both male and female who do not believe women bring much value to a discussion. I am not one of those, but I just don’t care enough to raise an issue on it beyond discussing it here. In our last stake we used to live in a full-time female therapist employed by the church regularly gave training at expanded stake bishopric training meetings. Keep pushing - they will change their minds if they pray about it, read the new testament, or At the pulpit. 2
MustardSeed Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 (edited) I think the present leadership would welcome it. But I’m old and tired. And not as enthusiastic to change the church as I was when I was in graduate school and beginning my career 10 years later. I just see what I see and shake my head. I should/could be more generous to share information that could help a lot of people. Edit to say I guess I sound sort of crotchety. Or at the every least egotistical about my great insights that I’m withholding from an ungrateful entity. I guess I should check my attitude. Edited November 20, 2018 by MustardSeed
MustardSeed Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 I will say, the youth today think drastically differently than the generations before. The world and the church will undoubtedly reflect that in 30 years, if not sooner. 3

Unthinkable! The tabloids would relish the opportunity. We need to rise up in professional maturity and become a light on the hill for how this could work. The husband goes along with the female apostle, the wife goes with the male, what is the big deal? Edited November 20, 2018 by Calm 1
MustardSeed Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 (edited) I really don’t know what the big deal is at all. Women are quite capable humans, really. Shocker. Edited November 20, 2018 by MustardSeed

Incidentally I want to apologize for offending you and please understand that I never once intended to refer to you on that thread- all my comments were about other folks. I don't care if they are mad at me, but I hope you forgive me. Obviously this is a personal issue but I just wanted to say that. I understand you are working through some issues and i want to welcome you to the board and hope you contribute a lot! Some others....... meh!
