We don't teach other religions. The Byzantines did not have the Teutons - they conquered the west part of the empire. The Teutons are who eventually stopped Islam, although the Visigoths suffered extreme losses in Spain. Many have already forgotten the thousand years of attacks by Muslims on the Christian West, which continued until the fall of the Ottoman Empire in the First World War. They clap at Pres Obama's proclamation of the Muslim contribution to America not remembering that the Marine's Song about the shores of Tripoli was written to tell about the American need to stop the Muslim pirating and enslavement of American sailors in the Mediterranean - which was the real Muslim contribution to America's early history. As much as I people like to rip on oh, say charlamange for killing them innocent saxons we were kinda thuggish at times. As a general rule most Teutons were Arian Christian. They did sack Roman cities, but they didn't generally just slaughter them. The Romans survived the various sackings of Rome - they just didn't rule anymore, although as you allude, they eventually converted to Roman Catholicism. If you believe the Romans, the Teutons were horrible brutes, but they did let the Romans live. They didn't enslave them either. The Franks, however, never converted until becoming Catholic, at which time you get... Charlamagne. He is not a good poster boy for Catholicism.

Uhhh, the Saxons were pretty mean and they never did get along. Look at a map of Anglo Saxon England, wasn't until William came along that they started making friends, sorta.

The Arian Christian Teutons were essentially the tribes which moved in from the East - the Visigoths, the Ostrogoths, the Heruili, the Vandals, the Gepedae and to a certain extent the Bergundians and Lombards. These were the tribes that moved into the western Roman Empire first. The other tribes followed in from the north after Rome had been softened up - the Suevi took Portugal, the Franks took France, and the Saxons took Roman England - these were still Germanic pagan tribes. Note there are ten of them altogether. I believe these are the ten horns on the first beast of Revelation, which give their power unto the beast. Three of the horns were plucked up by the little horn of Daniel 7 - the Heruli, the Ostrogoths and the Vandals - all suffered defeat by the hands of the Romans I think at the behest of the Roman pontiff. So they don't play a continuing part in modern Europe - what was left of them dissolved into the other tribes and countries.

For one he had some sweeeet bling! You know, technically New Jerusalem will be the new reich, in the lords prayer (Protestant version) They have Himmel Reich, which is basically heavenly kingdom. Barbarossa was a good Christian so he'll be there. Maybe doing admin stuff who knows. I just hope the order gets put back to work doing things besides helping the elderly and drugged up, too many heretics out there running free.

You forgot the wine from his first miracle, last supper and enough nails from the holy cross to shoe every horse in saxony. To be fair, spain, france and italy have my favorite holy relics, the holy hat and sword.
