Duncan Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 My 12 yr old keeps using the phrases "bay" and cray" but he doesn't even know what they mean, so does anyone know what they mean or is this some weird language that only kids his age know about?
Calm Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Cray short for crazy? Don't know bay...never heard it used, any chance short for baby?
Calm Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 cray krÄ/adjectiveUS informalcrazy."I have a feeling this is gonna get cray" BAE Baby 1
Saint Sinner Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 A friend's daughter uses them. Calm is right. Cray is crazy and bae is babe or baby. Both sound ridiculous. 1
Calm Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Sorry about formating, but aren't I a good guesser? 2

Duncan Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 hmm, I have going to have to ask him about who he is talking about being "bae"!!!
Popular Post bluebell Posted November 10, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 10, 2015 I hate bae as a term of endearment. It sounds dumb. Just tell him that bae in Dutch means poop. Maybe that will help. 5

Kenngo1969 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) Ahh, the younger generation! All I can do is wish you luck, Duncan! P.S.: You might be OK, though, unless he tells you, "Hey, bae, bae; you're cray cray!" So totally not a laughing matter, I know ... "Easy for you to say, Ken! It's not your kid!" "Easy for you to say, Ken! It's not your kid!" The words we used were just as stupid.
strappinglad Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 The words we used were just as stupid. Yabut, yabut, our language was cool, man. I'm waiting for the New York Times to adopt the 140 character text shorthand for its editorial page, at which point I will know I have outlived my usefulness.
Rain Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Bae, at least how the kids use it around here, is rarely baby. My kids tried to explain it to me. I still don't think I get it. Your Bae is your boyfriend or girlfriend, except when it isn't. When it isn'the then it is someone who is boyfriend or girlfriend material, but don't hold that position. Someone you might have a crush on, but don't or someone you do have a crush on, but you are either keeping things cool or you might be hiding it.See why I am having trouble defining it? 2
busybee Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 'Cray' I can deal with. I have a daughter on mission who often says her week has been cray, cray!!!! 'Bae' drives me demented!!! 1
