Stargazer Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I ran a forum (a fansite for a sci fi book series) for a time, and one of the banes of my existence was spammers. I hate spammers so bad I can taste it. I haven't touched my forum (and nobody posts there any longer after the publisher discontinued the series) for a month or two, and believe it or not I have about 20,000 new user signups -- all of them bots. Since I inadvertently left registrations open, but required new users to be validated by a mod, that's what I got. But I'll be shutting down that site soon.

bluebell Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I remember a fews years ago, some of the posters had the ability to delete spam. If it keeps happening, maybe it's time to bring that back.
