When I try to post outside of my home I get an error message saying I don't have permission. I'm not sure if it's a problem on my end or the board's.

Bluebell, I get that too, you must be on "limited"! ;)

I get that too.  The initial window is available to everyone but certain functions (such as clicking on tab for "View New Content" list) require you to log in.  When that happens, it simply means MDDB sees you as a random visitor or if you a member, you are using a device it has not seen before.  You just need to register to become a new member.  If you already are a member, simply log in your avatar name plus password.

edit:  certain privileged clicks should result in a "pop up panel" to explain the situation and provide immediate log in fields in the same panel.

It must be a bug that is sometimes causing the site not to recognize me then because it will do it and then not do it randomly, even though i'm using the same phone i've been logged into for a year.

One possibility- have you disabled (perhaps unintentionally) cookies on your phone?  cookies are needed to retain your login process.

Something I wish, and I have no idea how to do this but if you get quoted I wish there was a way to get notified. Like on Facebook if someone mentions your name you get a little notification. That way you won't have to miss a question someone has for you or something of that nature

Found this exploring to see if there was an option to turn off multiple quotes in a reply:

"Notify me when someone quotes my posts (and I'm not already following)"

------------

Go into your account and then into settings and then into notification center. It has a variety of options available.

Try deleting your cache and trying again. A lot of changes have been made to limit JavaScript and use html5 more. Some things I can change and others I need to find work around still.

Greatly appreciate your efforts, especially since we are getting this all for free.

Still experiencing vexing problems with the quote function. I get an error message saying too many blocks of text are being quoted. And I can't delete the blocks of text, so I am thus prevented from posting.

I don't know how to delete my cache, if that's what's causing the problem.

The discussion forum at lds.net/forums/ has that feature.

First question...do all our posts stay on our profiles somewhere? The other day I looked and it only went so far. Where it use to go clear back to the beginning of my posting. Thought that after I die, my children can read something about their mom that they never knew about me.

Second thing...I wish our posts didn't show that we had to edit them. I know NOM doesn't do that. But maybe there is a good reason for it.

If you are using a mobile device and If you use a shortcut to get to this site, delete it. Then clear your history and cookies. Then reset your network connections (will delete all passwords for wifi access). Then try to access the site.

I'll try that.  It's weird because it will work one minute and then not the next, and then i'll try again a few minutes later (all from the same parking lot, for example) and it's working again...

This is just a guess, but i wouldn't be surprised if the reason an edit shows up is so someone who responds to a post will be able to tell if the post is edited after they replied to it.

I think it's fine to show the edit, but i do wish that it gave you 60 seconds or something to edit without that showing up.  That way you could edit spelling or grammar errors without the edit tag appearing.

Multi level quote just doesn't work.  It causes posting problems if there is more than 3 or4 levels.

The multiple quote situation is pretty bad for the way I respond to this forum.  I have set up my notifications to tell me when someone quotes one of my posts- and the way it is now, I get a notification of every post of mine that someone quotes in the CHAIN of posts to which they are responding.

So if Ahab responds to Mars and Mars had responded to me, I get a notification of Ahab's response to Mars as if Ahab is responding to me.

Very confusing and a big waste of time and my email is overflowing.   I get a notification for virtually every post on a thread on which I have been active.

And then I get to play with the quote function to get it to only quote the quote I want to quote

It takes like 15 minutes to dash off a one line quote and response if the quote of the quote is quote of a quote etc.

Yes I suppose I can spend my life tweaking the quote function but honestly I don't want to.  Please fix it.

Sometimes smilies are showing up as little boxes with a question mark in it (I think it stands for an unreadable image).  This just happened for me with just the simple : ) :) .  I thought maybe it was because I typed it in instead of using the options in the reply box, but testing it resulted in no problem either way (typed in or clicked on) so it just happens on occasion.

That's a site language issue. Let me see if I can update the database and see if I can get that fixed.

Was this fixed? Site should allow up to 15 separate quotes.

It seems to be fine now, thanks!

So in another thread someone (Rain?) was talking about how rep points were there but clicking on it to see who did it yielded "no rep given". I think she found an example. Had some time, so found one of my own as more than one might be helpful to compare with others that aren't glitched.

Looked at received reputation in my profile, found this post had 4 points but says no points given, then I used the link to go where it is posted in a thread and there it shows the four names.

http://www.mormondialogue.org/topic/65624-remember-the-oregon-bakery/page-14#entry1209512360

At this time it is on the second rep page, 13 down.

If one can always see the rep points if viewed differently (if not seen in thread, go to rep page or the reverse if notseen on rep page), not sure it is worth any of your effort to change, especially since it is occasional, but it is nice to know who likes a particular post...helps to figure out why it might be popular when I am thinking it wasn't out of the ordinary and yet it strikes people. I assume others wonder the same thing.

PS: found the 4 point one below it was glitched as well, happened to renew the page because i wanted to keep testing to see if more below were glitched and the page hadn't fully loaded. Turned out when renewed, the glitch was removed so my examples are probably useless...though I had opened a new page so as to copy the post numbers easier and I would think that would have the same effect as reloading a page but yet it hadn't...hmmm...

Same thing happened with second post down on third page, renewing fixed it.

I do not have any options to change my display name in profiles. I posted something that could be potentially sensitive and am hoping to change my display name for the first time since 2007.

You may not get it until you are at 25 posts...I would suggest going to social hall and playing the three word story thread for the rest you need. That might work...or you could go tell puns in the pun thread, tell what your favourite movies are in the movie thread or start your own thread for jokes, favorite music,

Now I understand...only mods can do that...you can ask them to change it, but they may remove the sensitive material for you.

You can use the report option to delete posts...if you can not see it yet, that will come too at 25. But then you will be able to edit your post...which I think is better, even though the situations are common and something every bishop probably encounters (or close to it) talking specifics is probably not the best.
