I like it as well and am not inclined to switch to this new system.

I have no desire to switch to the new system.
rongo Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I prefer the old system of cash or check. I don't keep my yellow copies (I actually throw the yellow sheet away before filling out the white one). Mainly because I don't make enough to itemize my deductions (my wife is a housewife, and I'm a public school teacher) I hope that the Church doesn't switch, at some point, to 100% electronic. I'm a dinosaur who likes using cash and check . . .

I understand sending checks directly from the bank to the local ward is easy for many. We in the clerk's office understand that all donations are precious, and should be treated with care and reverence whether an envelope of pennies from a primary child, or a large check from a wealthy member of the ward. That being said, bank checks are a bit of an annoyance. First the member of the bishopric has to fill out the tithing form (sometimes the notation of categories on the check is not clear). Second, the bank usually uses very long check numbers which are a bit of a pain to enter into the computer. ( here is where you can say boo-hoo-hoo for the poor clerk). So I am happy for any member of the ward who wants to remit their donations directly to church headquarters... it makes my life easier. Truthfully, it is an honor to serve as a financial clerk. My testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel has has increased, both because of my association with the many fine men who have served in our bishopric over time, and my personal involvement in the use of fast offerings to help those in need and other financial aspects of the running of a ward. That's the biggest reason I hadn't changed to online paying before now. You guys are there long enough! And all the worry about it being delivered to the right mailbox and children getting the mail and bishops having lots on their minds and possibly leaving the checks home when they come in. The other reason was my bank actually charged to do it. It was really nice when we moved and didn't have current checks yet, but I was glad not to pay the fee when the checks came in.
