bluebell Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Are you saying they should be questioned because they could be lying?
bluebell Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) Just wanted to add that I thought it was a little funny that the kid lied, yet is calling everyone who bought his lie to repentance. And his understanding of the bible is a little wonky. Edited January 16, 2015 by bluebell
Tacenda Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 What does this have to do with the LDS church? 2
DragonLancer Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 Are you saying they should be questioned because they could be lying? Yes. I'm saying that most of the time, many gullible people in the Church give them the benefit of the doubt automatically, when they should be questioning them automatically, and assuming that remarkable claims require careful prayer and fasting for a length of time for spiritual confirmation.
DragonLancer Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) What does this have to do with the LDS church? Everything. Because we have a number of LDS Near Death experience claimants out there that have published their claims, and more often than not, people believe what they say, hook line and sinker, without questioning. I'm saying that questioning these claims should be people's first impulse. Edited January 16, 2015 by DragonLancer
bluebell Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Yes. Ok.
Kenngo1969 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 What does this have to do with the LDS church?A great question, and one for which you deserve far more than the single rep point I was able to give you. As soon as I realized that the book had been published by a Christian © and bookstore, my first question was, "Why would such a publisher accept a manuscript from Mormons?" There is no mention in any of the links of any of those involved being Mormon. Apparently, however, the Spirit told DragonLancer that these folks are Mormon, and he now wants us to take his word for it that they are.

Why confuse the issue by pointing to a post-publication denunciation by one of its authors of a non-LDS Christian account? Edited January 16, 2015 by Kenngo1969 1

DragonLancer Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 A great question, and one for which you deserve far more than the single rep point I was able to give you. LOL. No. I think it should be obvious that I'm giving an example of how there are liars out there in the Christian world about NDE's, and the LDS NDE claimants are no exception to the probability that they too can be liars about their NDE's. 1
ERayR Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Everything. Because we have a number of LDS Near Death experience claimants out there that have published their claims, and more often than not, people believe what they say, hook line and sinker, without questioning. I'm saying that questioning these claims should be people's first impulse. Your logic is a bit faulty. Just because one is false doesn't make them all false LDS or not. 3
DragonLancer Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 Then why not list some of those titles, along with your concerns regarding them? Why confuse the issue by pointing to a post-publication denunciation by one of its authors of a non-LDS Christian account? Because the post is generalized. And you seem especially offended or critical of me even posting on this subject for some reason.

DragonLancer Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 Your logic is a bit faulty. Just because one is false doesn't make them all false LDS or not. I didn't say they were all false. I am saying that stuff like this is good reason to assume that they are likely to be false unless there is good reason to the contrary and that there is no good reason to assume that they are in fact true by default.
The Nehor Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I didn't say they were all false. I am saying that stuff like this is good reason to assume that they are likely to be false unless there is good reason to the contrary and that there is no good reason to assume that they are in fact true by default.By that logic we should assume all claims of rape are in fact false because there have been false claims. 1

Not offended. Just curious as to where you are going with this head scratcher. Edited January 16, 2015 by ERayR

cinepro Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Everything. Because we have a number of LDS Near Death experience claimants out there that have published their claims, and more often than not, people believe what they say, hook line and sinker, without questioning. I'm saying that questioning these claims should be people's first impulse. To be fair, people usually only believe in NDE's when the NDE reinforces their religious views. I'm sure LDS would be very skeptical of an NDE that claimed a trinitarian God, for example. 3
DragonLancer Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 By that logic we should assume all claims of rape are in fact false because there have been false claims. Here we go again. No. All I'm saying is that people's first impulse should be skepticism, not belief.
DragonLancer Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 Not offended. Just curious as to where you are going with this head scratcher. It's pretty obvious that I think that people should be automatically skeptical of NDE claims, be they Trinitarian or LDS.
ERayR Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Here we go again. No. All I'm saying is that people's first impulse should be skepticism, not belief. And you have reason to believe that LDS are not?
DragonLancer Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) And you have reason to believe that LDS are not? I didn't say that. Listen closely for a sec and read my words real close.I think that people's first instinct for any claim about remarkable NDE claims, or prophetic claims like Denver Snuffer, or spiritual claims of any sort, LDS or otherwise, should be skepticism rather than belief, unless the claim was told secretly in confidence and you know the person. I don't know why you guys are having such a problem with my suggestion that people should be skeptical of remarkable claims. I'm kind of scratching my head about why you guys have such a negative reaction to this. Edited January 16, 2015 by DragonLancer

I have to agree this post except I would say all such reports. However, having examined this topic long ago I did find some to be credible.
