LOSTONE Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I need more in depth teaching, learning, understanding, and spiritual growth than what I am finding in my current church, my previous church, and other churches I have sought out. I have a strong desire to go further in my spiritual walk than what I have been able to and in turn, I need assistance to go further. Yet, sadly, I have not been able to find that assistance in any church I have discovered. I love my new church . In so many ways and on so many levels I love the church I am actively apart of and even my previous church, but I am not finding what I am seeking. Where can I find more?
Doctor Steuss Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Maybe it would help to look at some other religions/faiths/traditions. Not necessarily to find a different path, but to maybe find some different ways of approaching and interpreting. Also, sometimes the thing that is preventing us from going further is acknowledging just how far we have already come. Try taking a minute to stop looking off into the infinite distance, and instead glance briefly in the rearview mirror to see measurable progress. 1
haggard Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 If you are seeking an in depth daily Bible study, here is a link to my favorite Bible teacher Alistair Begg. He is an expository teacher, worth listening to his daily sermons![Please don't come here and post sites calling the LDS a cult. - moderators]

Where can I find more?It seems to me that you are seeking something you think "Religion" has to offer......Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life". He never said "my church (or my Religion) is the way, the truth, the life". The Lord Jesus will reveal himself to you if you ask him to. Christianity is about a relationship with Jesus (God in the flesh), not about "church". Seek him and you will find the Prince of Peace. 1

Calm Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 If you are seeking an in depth daily Bible study, here is a link to my favorite Bible teacher Alistair Begg. He is an expository teacher, worth listening to his daily sermons! Your site calls our faith a cult so it is possible the link may be deleted by moderators. Plus since it says LDS teach falsely about Christ, there is probably stuff on it that contradicts LDS interpretation of the Bible. Just needs to be mentioned given that many come here seeking information about what LDS believe and might be confused thinking LDS were recommending this site. 1

LOSTONE Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 When a man went to Jesus and asked what he lacked he got an answer he did not like. Can you give me insight to how that applies to my question here? I am not grasping what you are saying.
The Nehor Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Can you give me insight to how that applies to my question here? I am not grasping what you are saying.A young rich man came to the Savior and asked what he lacked. The answer was not pleasant for him. You asked what was missing in your life that left you unfulfilled. I am just saying if my experience is any indication it will probably not be something pleasant like a new class or book.

Point well made and well taken. I still will seek further, but with a reality of both sides of possibilities. Thanks for the reply.

rpn Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Jesus the Christ by James E Talmage is a really good book that will give you lots of insight into Him. Its biblical scholarship is somewhat dated, but not its spiritual foundation. There was a post last year about this time about what books would make understanding the Old Testament better ---- if you can find it reading the list would be helpful. There are several Old and New Testament commentaries that will help with biblical understanding.
LOSTONE Posted October 26, 2014 Author Posted October 26, 2014 A lot to think about. Thank you all for teh insightful replies and for sharing. Huge plus.
