Are All Men Going To Have To Fight In The War In Heaven?

I have seen in dreams the war in heaven and was also involved. The war included horses and swords.

What good would a sword do? Spirits don't die.

By the time the war in heaven rolls around again the women will have the priesthood and we can let them fight it out this time. We men did our duty in the 1st war.

mnn, I know you can't make any friends in real life on the computer, but you also can't make any friends in real life while reading the scriptures either, but it's a good activity to do.

Uh, excuse me. You met me on a computer, and I am a real live person, and I am also your friend.

So don't believe someone who says you can't make friends with a real live person on a computer.

And don't think you have to give up anything that is good in your life. You should just try to "add" more good things to what you already have, segmenting your time to whatever you like to do the most and can do.

Thanks Ahab! My singles group is so small. There's like only 4 girls in it. Mormon population is dangerously low in Massachusetts.

As for the war in heaven when it happens again, I'm interested in how it'll be fought.

You are very close to being put on Limited. Do not start more than one thread a day and stay away from speculative or provocative topics. If you want to talk about yourself, do it in Social Hall.

My daughter teases me about my best friends I have never met (though I have since she came up with the label met several at FM conferences).

Two of my favorite Church History stories:

Part of my mission tour was to go see the building the second story took place in. It is no longer filled with demons. It is now a law practice. Oh wait.......oh no......they're back.

Internet friendships exist but they are not the same as a conventional friendship. I pity anyone who only has Internet friends.

So the war was a Napoleonic conflict? Or just swords pushing it further back in time?

Interesting. Insane, but interesting.

I concede that some will see visions and will evaluate them in ways that they can understand.  However, I acknowledge that the real meat for us at the present time is to recognize that there is a battle that rages between the holiness of God and the evilness of the Satan and the fallen.  It is a constant battle that never stops and is constantly engaged.  The battle is real and we see the pain and destruction of those who fall victim to the guidance and direction of the evil one.

Rob, I have never read anything that supports the concept that spirits can be annihilated. Are you taking this from your personal visions or the teachings of another?  If another, please share that source.

Oh, they can be destroyed. Most definitely.

How about our spirits after we are resurrected?

Do you think evil spirits will be able do destroy us, or our spirits, then?

Or do you believe only evil spirit people can be destroyed?

The scriptures state that Satan and his angels will be destroyed after final judgment. A resurrected body means nothing of one cannot partake of the tree of life, it being the fruit which gives eternal physical life.

Agreed - but the method of their destruction is a little vague.  I think the only speculation that exists on the subject is the "potter's wheel" (back to native elements/intelligences) theory of Brigham & Heber.  And I believe that for one even they acknowledged it was theory.

So how long do you think a spirit can live without having to eat some kind of food, from the tree of life or otherwise?

Or do you think spirits need food to survive only when clothed with some kind of physical body?

And what do you think would happen if an evil spirit (person) somehow managed to get a sword that could destroy a spirit and used it against a good spirit person, maybe to cut off his head?

Would the good spirit person be destroyed, as in annihilated, or would there be some way to bring that spirit person back to life? Like one slice to the head to kill a body, with the spirit still living, and then another slice to the head to cut off the head of the spirit person outside of the body with that stroke totally destroying, as in annihilating, the person?

Or is it like in some video games where after you kill a person you just have to wait a while for the person to respawn, as they call it?

Until the light dims and dies. I believe the same tree of life in the garden of Eden is the same tree of life in the heavenly kingdom and thst only the righteous have access to this eternal fountain of youth. The wicked evil be cut off and eventually be destroyed entirely.

We'll see, I suppose. I'd rather think a sword can't do anything to my spirit except for making my mortal body non-functional, and that when I get my resurrected body it will be incorruptible and no longer subject to any decay or physical pain. But I have had an idea impressed upon me that I would still need to eat some kind of food for my body to be fully functional and alert, even when I have a resurrected physical body. I just don't know, yet, but I am sure that some day I will find out.

Oh, we will definitely be eating in eternity. There still has to be an energy exchange/ refueling for doing physical tasks.

Yeah it still puzzles me that our spirits can't (or at least don't) energize our mortal bodies without us needing to eat food.

If Jesus wants me to fight, I'll fight. I've played enough video games to get experienced. It'll be like Lord of the Rings. Nehor, I'll right by your side. You can provide the good laughs needed to overcome the enemy.

So how many righteous spirits died on the sword of their enemies? Do we need to mourn those lost before the world was?

One thing I am sure of right now is that if our spirits can die or be destroyed or even annihilated there is a way to put us back together. Like in Star Trek when people are transported, even if all of our parts were pulled apart, which equates to destruction and annihilation, there is still a way to put us back together. All it would take is the knowledge of how to do that, since our elements are alteady and always have been eternal.
