Are All Men Going To Have To Fight In The War In Heaven?

It says in Revelation that Michael will lead the Angels against the Dragon (Satan) and his followers. Is this talking about the war that already happened in the pre existence? And how was that war fought? With words or with swords? I read the book Heaven is for Real about the young boy Colton who has a NDE and he said that while he was in heaven he and other children there got to  see a great war that is going to be fought and he said that mean have to take part with either a sword or a bow and arrow, but in the end Jesus wins. If there really is a war like that when either Satan is loosed or Armageddon, can good saints be killed? And if so, where do they go after they've been killed by Satan's soldiers? Or is Revelation hogwash?

Our spirits don't die so swords or arrows or even guns would be kinda pointless, although maybe fun to use. I'm still amazed that spirits can be put in prison, and although I think that is mostly mental/intellectual confinement we have been told there are limits to where people can go. I'm kinda thinking our weapons will be our intellect, like an ability to put a thought in someone's mind that really stumps someone, or an ability to just ignore thoughts that others try to convey.

And yes we have, are now, and always will fight against one side or another.

So the war in heaven where Satan and the 1/3 rebelled was more of a debate match than an actual war. That seems less exciting, but understandable. I had an image of myself charging Satan's demons with my sword held high ala Aragon from Lord of The Rings Return of the King. "For Frodo" being replaced with "For Jesus".

I suspect it was not so much a large debate as a lot of personal discussions leading people one way or the other after the devil refused to accede to God's judgment. Friends pleading with friends to choose one way or the other. At least that is what I was doing. ;)

You could probably dress up like that and say all of that if you wanted to but all of the really evil spirit people would probably just laugh and look at you funny.

What makes you think you aren't already in the middle of battle?

If we're in the middle of a battle right now, who are we fighting and what are our weapons and shields? Are our garments our shields?

Ephesians 6

"13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"

Hello VGJ...

Do you have a job?

I notice that you have started seven (7) threads on this page 1 alone of  Gen Disc...  It's no skin off my nose, just find it curious...

I agree with JLHPROF... the scripture he quoted in #13 above... the "battle" will be for the hearts and minds of the saints by Satan and the wicked... We are to put on the full armor of God and stand firm in our faith, which will be a shield against the firery darts that will spew forth from Satan and his followers.

Garden girl you can be a real jerk to me with your comments like if I have a job and what you wrote to me in personal messages. I hope you see I was trying to ignore your disrespectful comments about me before but you seem to do it every chance you get.

I suppose I shouldn't be as critical as I've been with you... but you are old enough, endowed, and from what I can see, faithful, that you really should know the answers to many of the questions you pose in your threads... what irritated me was that you told me you like to start threads that will cause controversy so that a discussion will get going... and treated it like it was a joke... which again irritated me.

Okay, I'll back off... I really am not the type to be purposely unkind, i.e. or even a jerk to someone.  And you know that from most of my other PMs.  I would like to suggest that you might consider doing more studying if you really do have as many and the type of questions you post.

I really do wish you well...

Just be careful because to me with certain comments while saying other nice things you seemed like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

No, a wolf in sheep's clothing is something I am not... and never have been, nor will be...  when I have criticized you, I have meant it... when I have been "nice" I have meant that too.

In the 7 years I have been posting here, this is the first time I have ever heard GG called a "jerk," let alone a "wolf in sheep's clothing."

OTOH, there are those of us who read them as meaning she cares about you as a real person and wants you to be happy and feel good about your life (at times you've made comments about how you are dissatisfied with yourself and imo when GG offers advice or points out something she sees as needing correction, she is doing it because you've expressed a desire to change, to be a certain way etc. and she is trying to help you become the type of person you've expressed a desire to be.)
