I'm Confused About The 3 Levels Of The Celestial Kingdom

My sister was married in the temple and bore 5 children in the covenant. She and her first husband later divorced. Her sealing was cancelled when she was ready to be sealed to another man.

Do her children remain sealed to her and her first husband?

If he is still a member in good standing, the children are sealed to him as well as her, I've been told. How that works out, don't know.

Whatever happens to the parents the sealing blessings of the children are not affected. We are all sealed into God's eternal family. What's important to the children is the sealing to their own future spouses.

I'm confused how someone could be worthy of the lowest level of the Celestial Kingdom and make the kingdom, but not worthy enough to be in the top of the Celestial Kingdom or the 2nd level. I understand that those in the lower and 2nd level of the Celestial Kingdom are not sealed through marriage, but you can be sealed in the next life if you never got a chance on earth, yet there are many ministering angels who are not exalted. If a member is worthy of the CK, shouldn't they easily go to the top?

The main thought that helped me to see how it works was understanding what our Lord said about how the glory of God is intelligence, which he further defined as light and truth, so the fact that some people receive more glory than others means that some people receive more intelligence (or light and truth) than others who could or could have accepted more but rejected it or chose not to receive it. Which means the difference between each degree of glory is the degree of intelligence in each group of people.

Good point Ahab! I always thought it more as ordinances done. Like lowest level of CK for those who are just baptized. 2nd level for those who are endowed, but not sealed through marriage and the highest for those who are sealed through marriage.

Married couples I feel go to the top level. The lower levels are probably for singles.

Intelligence isn't a requirement in marriage relationships although the happiest couples will want as much as they can get. The key is in knowing who to get it from and how to get it.

I've known some members who desire the Celestial Kingdom, but have no desire whatsoever of being married.  Where does that leave them?  In a Celestial state without exaltation.

Yes, that's correct.  My opinion, rameumptom, is that people like this don't know what they want... that's like my sister. She says she doesn't want to be married and is fine being a ministering angel.  But knowing her, once she has a true eternal perspective, I think she'll want to go further.  So, I'm going to finish her ordinances... then, if she is given the opportunity, she will have a choice because the ordinances will be in place.

So knowledge and intelligence is the most important thing? Crap, I was diagnosed in high school with a learning disorder.

Use what you have and if you can add to what you know and how well you behave, then do it.

Or as someone I like has said: I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.

Or this: My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.

Or this: Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently.

Or this: You may not control all the events that happen to you but you can decide not to be reduced by them.

Or this: Ask for what you want and be prepared to get it.

Just a few things I like from Maya Angelou.

I've personally never met anyone who would just want to be a ministering angel and not be exalted.

I've met and still know a lot of people who say they want to be exalted and have the highest degree of celestial glory and yet they don't show by the way they live their lives that they would be ready for it. And I suppose that's okay, at least in some cases, because they still have some time to work towards it.

Great point. It isn't just the desire of our hearts, it's our actions in this life that determine where we go.

Exactly... :)

And our actions reflect our level of intelligence, because highly intelligent people don't do stupid things on purpose, when they know and can do better, and people who do stupid things on purpose show us, well, how stupid they are.

All of us, collectively, are still the most intelligent species in all of existence, though, thus the glory (intelligence) of God (our species) is still the most supreme intelligence in all of existence with some of us being more intelligent (glorious) than others of us and with some of us also being as intelligent as our species is and can be.

Read the parable of the talents.

I have.  He had given great thought to what it would mean to be exalted and had decided the the responsibilities and pressures were more than he wanted.  I also had an uncle who was a convert that told me once that knowing what he knew didn't know if he would have the courage to do it again if he had the choice.

Brigham Young's sister Fanny felt that way.  Joseph said it wasn't a good idea, that she didn't really know what she wanted, so he had Brigham marry Fanny to him right there...

Fanny didn't have as full an understanding and expressed that she was resigned to being a ministering angel. Joseph told her that she wouldn't want that if she truly understood and then had Brigham marry her to him so yes, she could receive of the fulness of exaltation.

She was the last recorded woman to marry Joseph during his life (that we know of).

Oh, I never knew that.

I recommend using caution when trying to understand new intelligence/information, otherwise what you know from what others tell you may not be right.

I see myself as an agent who, among other things, gathers intelligence, kinda like a CIA agent, and I take precautions to make sure I don't accept propaganda or false information that someone tries to give me to get me to think whatever they want me to think. Gathering intelligence is a tricky business.
