Garden Girl Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 For Mother's Day, I always sent my mom a beautiful bouquet... she loved seeing the deliveryman coming to the door with these beautiful flowers...But my very favorite thing to do... every few months I'd send my mom one of the Harry & David "Tower of Chocolates"... How she and my dad both loved seeing that arrive... GG

Stargazer Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Neither of my moms can appreciate Mother's Day gifts these days (mother and step-mother both are deceased). My wife has ruled out virtually any gift I might consider getting her. All I can do is throw up my hands in despair. I will probably get my wife a nice jar of pickled herring. She loves that stuff.
Calm Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I prefer books or houseplants....I need to stay away from chocolate these days..usual sleep problem, but I would take a fine quality cheesecake.

GG A friend once suggested that I do that. But I misheard him and instead got Mom a "Tower of Power" CD, which she didn't much enjoy .

I can think of dozens of things you can "give" her... how about fixing her a nice dinner... or better yet a picnic and take her to some lovely spot and spread it all out and simply enjoy a few hours together, talking... sharing... hold her hand... tell her how you appreciate her and all the things she does...How about washing dishes? Or better yet, washing windows?Use your imagination... you don't have to "buy" something... make a gift of something special that you do for her from your heart... you get the idea.... Buzzard Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Well, as of a few hours ago and a visit from a member of the bishopric, I guess she is getting to hear me talk about her in Sacrament Meeting this week. Not a bad present, except I have to prepare a talk in three days flat. But the timing is good. Last year she lived out of state, and there is a reasonable possibility that I will not be in mortality for next Mother's Day. Hopefully I am proved wrong. Hopefully, the bishop likes the results.As with Grand Moff Tarkin and Darth Vader, He's taking an awful risk. This had better work 1

GGYou beat me to the punch, I was going to mention a service also. My sister in laws and I, had a tradition of cleaning my mother in law's windows every May for Mother's Day, she had double paned windows that you had to unscrew to wash the insides. So not very simple windows. Then we would have lunch with everyone afterwards.
