In it stood, that I would become a "mother of Israel", that I received many children with my husband (at that time, I wasn't married, even didn't have a boy-friend (remember, I was transsexual, born female). Nothing had happened, and I stood very truthful to the church. After depressions and two suicide attempts, I did know, that it was time to leave the LDS church. At that time, I wasn't married, did have had even a boy-friend.For me, this "blessing" is a curse. It should force the members, to stay in the church. Gero...Life is eternal... how do you know this was a reference to this estate? How do you know if you had remained in the Church your blessing wouldn't continue on... some of the things in mine refer to a continuation beyond this world. GG Edited July 19, 2014 by Garden Girl

rongo Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 For some reason, Dan is excluded from the list of tribes in the 144,000 (go look in Revelation and see for yourself). I used to drive Jehovah's Witnesses nuts asking them why (I don't know, either, but they are really into the 144,000, and not knowing something about it is disturbing to them). We did a special lesson in our family where we read the tribe blessings and warnings in Genesis (via Jacob) and Deuteronomy (via Moses). Simeon seems to be the most short-changed tribe . . .

I don't get why we are assigned Tribes and if one tribe is different then any other. I know a guy who is from the Tribe of Dan and he's a great guy and stuff but he's no better nor worse then anyone else, I don't see the distinction of being Ephraim as opposed to some other tribe. Others may see it as more abuse. You would have had to been there.

When you consider that the Book of Revelation says that 144,000 will be sent out, 12,000 from each of 10 tribes, well, they have to be identified some way. Are there 12,000 members from Dan or Reuben in the Church at this time? I don't know, but maybe. Usually people are declared of Ephraim. Maybe ask you stake patriarch if he's declared any other tribe.Slight technical point. It's my understanding that Reuben lost his birthright, and will not be counted as among the 12 tribes. That's why, instead of a tribe of Joseph, we have Ephraim and Manasseh. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Another probably irrelevant observation is that PB's have identified members of all the tribes of Israel among the saints of Mongolia and Siberia. rongo Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 There are people today (numerically small compared to Ephraim and Manasseh) whose patriarchal blessings declare them to belong to Reuben. Also, Revelation lists Reuben as contributing 12,000 to the 144,000. But it omits Dan . . .

There are many more of Ephraim than of Manasseh (the "ten thousand of Ephraim, and the thousand of Manasseh), and many more of Manasseh than of any other tribe. Until the ten tribes return . . .

I got Manassah. This thread has gotten me to open up my box of LDS stuff. It had my first baptism Temple Recommend, PB, priesthood line of authority, genealogy temple cards, genealogy trees, first endowment recommend and ordination certificates. Rather nostalgic.

I don't remember anyone asking if I wanted one when I was a teenager, maybe because we moved away when I was age 15 & 3/4's, it must have slipped through the cracks. My PB was a page and a half and the print was large, maybe to make it seem longer. It mainly said I would be a peacemaker in my home.
