Jazzdreamer Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I made these wonderful caramel bacon apple cupcakes for the Elders in my branch. I watched the two I met with eat and enjoy them and they took the rest to the other elders...Well the other Elders didn't even get a chance to try them because some other missionary came in and stole them. Can I just say, I hope that person thought they were disgusting!! But they probably didn't considering they ate six cupcakes...

strappinglad Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Missionaries often follow the concept wherein they have all things in common, especially food items. I recall many decades ago on my mission when food items arrived for birthdays etc. we all partook of whatever there was.
Tacenda Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I'm terrible about trying new recipes on people. Why don't I just make something "tried and true". It's always a gamble and usually someone I've been assigned to help in the ward, like someone who's had a baby, or lost a loved one, or surgery. What if the recipe was terrible? !? And I couldn't change it at the last minute. Luckily your cupcakes were the bomb, or not luckily, since some of the wrong elders snatched them up. They sound scrumptious!

Lol that's why I use the elders as my guinea pigs they won't tell me if something tastes bad ive learned haha they will just keep silent. But if it's good they will rant and rave like I'm a great chef. But I see where you're coming from Lol oh my goodness, today I'm going to find out who the elders are and I think I'll pretend to be extra angry with them at the next sacrament meeting.

Missionary's are elders in your branch and seldom get something like this, if it was for them, I guess they did not feel they were stealing...you should be flattered they wanted them so much.
Jazzdreamer Posted October 19, 2013 Author Posted October 19, 2013 Bacon Caramel? Seriously?Yes lol new recipe I was trying out. The elders are my guinea pigs.

Tacenda Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Yes lol new recipe I was trying out. The elders are my guinea pigs. In my post I probably should have been more honest and said, except for the bacon, they sound scrumptious.
Jazzdreamer Posted October 19, 2013 Author Posted October 19, 2013 In my post I probably should have been more honest and said, except for the bacon, they sound scrumptious. Haha thank you.I was actually terrified of adding bacon but the Elders said it was perfect with the frosting. apparently the two tastes complimented each other rather well.
Stone holm Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 This recalls to mind my wife and I having our Sister Missionaries over for a roast beef supper, one said meat is for times of famine and I am famished, I suspect there are a fair number of famished missionaries.
