In law that licks his plate and picks his teeth with a steak knife at the family get togethers where he'll sometimes bring a date. He's single and divorced. I always cringe when this happens.
Andrew Cothran Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I'm going to have my brother teach me how to cook, if only basically, before I go on my mission.Somehow, it appeals to me to be a missionary with the ability to cook, particularly when my companion can't. It's an act of service to prepare food for another, and I find myself desiring the blessings that come from simple acts of service. in that case then all parties should be blessed ,,

Untill the honeymoon was over and they had to live. She had never ever done anhy sort of housework or cooking. She not only couldn't cook but she couldn't even boil water, or make toast. Her mother had literally done everything for her her whole life. My friend loved her but the marriage didn't last.

Untill the honeymoon was over and they had to live. She had never ever done anhy sort of housework or cooking. She not only couldn't cook but she couldn't even boil water, or make toast. Her mother had literally done everything for her her whole life. My friend loved her but the marriage didn't last.I don't think parents realize how much they can cripple their children by not teaching them to work in or around the home. I have a cousin who was amazed that my then 6 and 9 year old got their own breakfast in the morning, put their dishes away when done, and otherwise handled themselves in the kitchen during meal times. Her sister (my other cousin) had a son the same age as my youngest and a daughter much older and neither of them did anything for themselves-youngest didn't even tie his own shoes. I know that my kids are definitely not special in their abilities but next to her's they seemed like rocket scientists! 1

Judd Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 About 8 or 9 years ago, I befriended some Elders from the Arizona Phoenix Mission. Twice a month I would do something with them on their p-day. Our favorite activity was when I spent $200 on some hard liquor with a very high alcohol content and I taught them how to make cocktail molotovs. We had a blast! It was interesting to get a phone call from the Mission President asking me why I taught his missionaries to make and play with explosives. I thought I was gonna be in deep doo doo. But he was cool about it and asked me not to do that any more. Well, I didnt until after he left the mission and the new president came in.However, I have realized that I'm not so much afraid of the presidents but their wives are different story. I have gotten in trouble with the wives more than being lectured by the president. Them Mrs. Presidents scare the hell outta me.I do like the socially awkwards missionaries. They have the potential to be dirtbags. Dirtbag missionaries are the ones you can have a good time with and who aren't "letter of the law" type. Sister dirtbags are rare but they can be fun too and the most devious. The other missionaries are just Elders or Sisters and I love them for their sweet spirits but despise their idolatry of Bruce McConkie.You spent $200 on liquor for the same experience of $0.25 of gasoline?

He wants them to be able to eat cereal and watch cartoons on Saurday without waking him at 6. Work in progress as they are still very young.
