Freedom Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Comparative work on mormon, protestant and catholic doctrines that is not apologetic or polemic. Perhaps there is one, but it would be interesting to see a fair analysis of the differences in how various verses in the bible are interpreted and why. It would, of course, have to be written by three different experts. It would also be interesting so see a book on Islam as compared to mormonism 2
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Is there a book on the scriptures, Joseph Smith, Church history, etc., that you wish would be published? What would it be?1. "The Continuing Persecution of the Mormons in Eastern and Southern US, 1847-1910."2. "A Documentary History of the Word of Wisdom"3. "Ethnic and Pioneer Recipes and Home Remedies in the Mormon West"The scriptures in Southern...you know the Queen's language; complete with my misspellings. This wayI would feel a part and equal. On a serious note, an official copy of all the Joseph Smith papers.
wenglund Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) Will Schryver's and Kevin Graham's work on the KEP and Book of Abraham....Yes...and the contrasts between new information and recycled disinformation as well as eloquence and banal rants, would be instructive as well. Thanks, -Wade Englund- Edited December 27, 2012 by wenglund
Damien the Leper Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Yes...and the contrasts between information and disinformation as well as eloquence and banal rants, would be instructive as well. Thanks, -Wade Englund-Oh Wade...you make me smile. 1
wenglund Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 I would like to see a head-to-head of Will Schryver and Chris Smith.Awhile back Will mentioned that he had written a devastating review of Chris' JWHA paper. If he is able to secure a reputable publisher for his review, you may somewhat get your wish. I look forward to it as well. Thanks, -Wade Englund-
Nathair/|\ Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 I'd like to see a novel of the same scope as the Work and the Glory series dealing with Zedekiah's daughter delivering the stone Jacob slept on at Bethel to Éire and it's subsequent history as the Stone of Scone.A new Jesus the Christ, maybe by Elder Oaks. A dialogue similar to How Wide the Divide between Bill Hamblin and Ronald Hutton or John Michael Greer.A decent book on Jewish mysticism and the qaballah for Latter-Day Saints by Volgadon.A book on ANE religion for Latter-Day Saints.
nosmelone Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 The Kinderhook Translation...that would be epic!
Duncan Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 The Kinderhook Translation...that would be epic!have to ask what does 'nosmelone' mean?
Damien the Leper Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 have to ask what does 'nosmelone' mean?Good call! I wanna know too.
nosmelone Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Its actually a breakdown of the words "No smell one" all condensed into one nosmelone. Its from my youth days as a graffiti artist thats what I used to write (tag). Its because I was born without the sense of smell and I just put the "one" on the end because I can....I know I know kind of stupid but they were great letters for graffiti though!

Gohan Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I thought it would be more of a matter-antimatter thing: they'd like, destroy the universe or something! We could use the explosive reaction as a fuel source to end the energy crisis. Although it wouldn't be 'clean energy'...more like mud-slinging energy.I always wanted a book about Mormons in the Civil War, and they've published that now. Now I just need to wait until Don finishes his book on the lost 116 pages. 2
