Church Leaders Congratulate President Obama

The worst thing everyone seen was people saying they were going to move to Canada? That is actually very tame. I seen many people posting about how the government was going to fall or world was going to end. Even many of the LDS pages(not officially) had prophets talking about government falling or about electing wise men. It was clearly attacks on President Obama, using the Church as a tool for that. I was absolutely disgusted by what I read.

Pray with more faith then.

Even Moroni knew when he prayed for his people it was to no avail.

As America becomes more socially liberal, more ethnic and more secular (as evidenced by both recent polling and census data), how do you think Romney will have a more successful run in 4 years, when America will be even more ethnic, socially liberal and secular, than he did this time around?

Romney didn't lose this election; the GOP lost this election due to their adherence to socially conservative values (in a country that is increasingly socially liberal, as evidenced by yesterday's votes to allow gay marriage and recreational marijuana use), the GOP's anti-immigrant stances (in an electorate that is increasing in ethnicity), and the GOPs continued embrace and reliance on religious votes in a country that is veering more secular each and every year.

I would argue he was not conservatve enough. From what I understand voter turn out was down. Oh well.

That does not make sense, it even borders on irrational. (I am addressing the concept and not you Mola Ram)

Just thinking it through, A Conservative would rather be apathetic and pretty much guarantee the incumbent Democrat a win, rather than voting for a fellow Conservative - even though said conservative is not conservative enough. What a strange world those folks live in.

So you would argue that in a country that is becoming increasingly secular, increasingly ethnic and increasingly socially liberal, a hardline conservative has a greater chance at election than a moderate conservative?

If that's the case, I really hope that someone with a similar outlook is the next chair of the Republican National Committee, thus ensuring Democratic victories for a long time.

Um, if you look at the Left Coast and the East coast those are the areas athat are becoming more and more liberal and secular. There is much of "the fly over" country that is still quite religous. There is very much that is political in how a canidate is chosen. I am talking about the politcal machine here. The sad part is that onlly about 6 and 1/2 million people even voted. That tells me that most don't give a crap about their country. So claiming that conservatism was rejected is simply not what happened. You have a whole slew of people on the government *** and they want to keep on sucking it. Kind of hard to give that up and realize there is something better out there.

Canada accepts immigrants! We got extra blankets, crackers, soup and toothbrushes-we got it all!

I told my husband you invited us back up and as grateful as he was for the invitation, he wasn't sure he could handle Saskatchewan.

For a guy who grew up in Utah Valley before the Californian Rush, when the only things of substance were BYU and Geneva Steel, he is suddenly cosmopolitan.

I need to remind him he was talking about living in Heber not too long ago.

Haha, that is funny, i never thought of the irony of that before! What dorks! :D

First thing I thought of except for the military issue. Canadians are proud of their Peacekeepers! We had a Naval Base in Calgary even...don't ask me why a landlocked city would have one, I am sure it made sense to the builders.

My husband is of the opinion that Obamacare isn't really socialised medicine, but merely a confused collection of rules whose only result will be to make everything more difficult and more expensive. It will be interesting to see if his prediction that we will end up having to pay thousands in insurance for our diabetic daughter in a few years when she turns 26 will come true. I am wondering is severe social anxiety qualifies for disability (she is unable to attend school or get a job...or leave the house at time).

If we were in Canada we wouldn't be worrying about her, but maybe the income difference makes up for it.

few can handle Saskatchewan!! although a little birdie told me that they will be looking for a Temple President in Winnipeg!

Calgary has a naval base? That's a hoot and a holler. Winnipeg was the first home of the Alpine Club of Canada!

you can swing a dead cat all day long and wouldn't hit a blooming thing!

Fear not friends, I bet President Obama will offer Gov. Romney the secretary of business position.

Yes, that would be perfect!

Only if you are being overly sensitive about the election is that a jab. Since Elder Romney wasn't elected does this mean we can finally debunk the White Horse Prophecy? I'll answer my own question: No.

Considering the White Horse prophecy had no reference to the race, why would Romney losing debunk it?

It is tragic that a Latter-day Saint would be filled with such contempt as to compare President Obama with an apostate civilization that engaged in human sacrifice and all manner of abomination. Someone has truly lost sight of what it means to be filled with charity for all.

How sad.

This election was very emotional and the result not being known til the end, well even the best of people may need time to adjust to disappointment. I don't think Deborah was thinking about the level of wickedness, but rather the stubbornness she feels is being displayed (she can of course correct me if I am wrong).

If I am right, then that is significantly different. I also think that because of the level of wickedness involved the comparison is not a wise one and Deborah needs to be clearer on what she means. If it is stubbornness, my opinion is that it seems almost universal at this point among whatever group there is out there...at least the vocal parts of them, but I am an optimist and my hope is that appearances are very deceiving right now and once the adjustment period is over with, people will wake up to what needs to be done and work together to find solutions that may not make everyone happy, but at least can be lived with. A lot of countries have managed to do so, I see no reason why it can't happen here though it may approach a miracle if it happens without some major catastrophe forcing it. But I believe in miracles and will keep praying for one.

well abortion (aka human sacrifice) is more and more acceptable, America is becoming increasingly nonreligious and participating in "all manner of abomination" I think that fits quite well.

I need to correct my self. I am not sure were I got 6 and 1/2 million votes. I realize the under of poeple that voted was about 120 million. Still the point remains that just about 1/2 of the US did no vote. Any way carry on.

The break down is that according to the US 2010 census

http://www.census.go.../c2010br-03.pdf

74 million are under the age of 18. There are 308 million people living in the US and about 120 voted. So.

Wow Mark, that was a rather pathetic interpretation. Letting your blind loyalty for Obama show much?

Heber, AZ? Or am I unfamiliar with other Heber's?

There was a Godwin's Law violation. Mark's response has nothing to do with loyalty to Obama. Another person could have made similar sentiments concerning Bush and the responses could still be seen as "blind".

I am concerned with the Moroni narrative because though he prayed he seemed to lack hope. Isn't that what faith is about? Hope? What good does a hopeless prayer do? What does it say about the person praying? I believe it would have been better for Moroni to focus on the eventual redemption rather than mortal issues.

Most definitely. We are left with the same make-up in Congress and the WH that we had before and as we see no one could agree on anything.

You will have to take that up with Moroni but I empathize with how he felt.
