Damien the Leper Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 You really ought to get out more.I get out enough. Perhaps you and I should take a walk together.
ERayR Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Limbaugh and his ilk have all the credibility of a midnight infomercial selling products that don't really work.I like to delude myself into thinking I have more credibility than that.
ERayR Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I get out enough. Perhaps you and I should take a walk together.May get into some heated but interesting conversation.
Calm Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I get out enough. Perhaps you and I should take a walk together. If it is cool enough, I will join you.
Anijen Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 All this walking, can I give you guys a leash attached with a very happy basset hound?
ERayR Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 If it is cool enough, I will join you. Careful the weather may be cool but the atmosphere maybe not so much.
Damien the Leper Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I like to delude myself into thinking I have more credibility than that.I never considered you to be part of his ilk. In fact, ERayR, I am of the opinion that you have more integrity than Limbaugh and his ilk.
Calm Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 All this walking, can I give you guys a leash attached with a very happy basset hound?Only if it gets along with my beagle.
ERayR Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I never considered you to be part of his ilk. In fact, ERayR, I am of the opinion that you have more integrity than Limbaugh and his ilk.Have you ever met Limbaugh? Have you ever dealt with him? If not how can you judge his integrity? Or is it political differences speaking?
Calm Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Now we are really going off topic.....might not be a bad idea anyway, lol, I bet most here are somewhat exhausted of it.
Damien the Leper Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 May get into some heated but interesting conversation.I'm not against you. I'm not against Mormon Apologetics. I'm not against the LDS church. I choose not to be part of any extreme. I prefer the position of being a moderate. Just because I disagree with certain teachings or opinions of church leaders or LDS apologists does not deem me an 'anti-Mormon'. In fact, the ad nauseum use of the term is often more telling of the person using it. This is not to say that the term isn't appropriately used (CARM and Walter Martin are good examples) within correct context. It may get heated but I would hope that we can find level ground in which we can remain civil. You have never given me reason not to respect you and I thank you for giving me that courtesy.
Damien the Leper Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Have you ever met Limbaugh? Have you ever dealt with him? If not how can you judge his integrity? Or is it political differences speaking?Have I interacted with him? Yes.Look at his track record more closely. As for his politics...he is as much a joke as Ann Coulter (Moore), Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, etc.PS- The Ann Coulter Moore part is a joke. I read Michael Moore's book Dude! Where's My Country in which he described a fake dream involving his granddaughter Ann Coulter Moore.

It is obvious we don't see eye to eye on politics.
Anijen Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I absolutely think Ann Coulter is one of the very smartest conservatives out there.see here for an exampleI think Charles Krauthhammer is up there too. Check out this uplifting talk at Hillsdale College , I especially like how he belives there was a provedential hand with our forefathers. His talk starts about the 20:30 mark It is one of the best talks I have ever heard on the Constitution.oops what a divergence from the OP, My bad...

It is obvious we don't see eye to eye on politics. My 81 year Tea Partyist grandfather has followed him since his beginning and still doesn't budge on his moreso extreme opinion of Limbaugh. Make no mistake, my distaste for Limbaugh is definitely moderate especially if you were to hear the oddly Christian Tea Party loving vulgarity that comes out of my grandfathers mouth. But enough about politics. We may never see eye to eye but I still like ya ERayR even if you are posessed by Azazel.

MorningStar Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Thanks for the kind remarks. They are much appreciated. As for the risk you mention, it's one I'm willing to take. I don't mind having enemies.ttribe: I've never listened to Rush Limbaugh.cal: You really, really need to get out more. You spend far too much of your life glued to a monitor. This has become the universe for you, and your perspectives are entirely molded by it. I like you and I think you always mean well, but you DON'T have any conception whatsoever of what it's like on the front lines of this war, nor can you consistently identify the enemy, and therefore you are being made into a tool. It's sad to me, because you weren't always like this.jwhitlock: You are a stalwart. I would go to war with you anytime.Anijen: You're a good man, too.Ok, gotta hit the road.Remember my prophecy: The sun will not set today before a new dawn arises.I get out a lot and also think it's unnecessary to bring up a woman's breasts even if she blogged about it first. I don't think it's fair to count Cal's concerns as invalid because she has health problems.
volgadon Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 but you DON'T have any conception whatsoever of what it's like on the front lines of this warThis kind of language (and the mindset behind it) is a big part of the problem.Alma 48:17 is a great scripture. Both my father and my brother were on the front lines of war. Luckily, I never had to fight in war, but I did serve in the military and I did see people die. Matthew 5:9 is what we should be following rather than heated war rhetoric.http://www.hennessey.lib.ok.us/sniper.htm
jwhitlock Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I find it sad you see no evidence that society has progressed in 100+ years. My apologies. I'll restate. Please help me understand why you labeled these things "gems." Furthermore, can you do so without altering my statements, please?A "rush to judgment" would imply I hadn't been personally witness to this behavior for YEARS; and that would be incorrect. Furthermore, I have no antipathy for Will, the person. I do, however, have antipathy for the type of actions exhibited by Will over the years. See the difference? Are we more moral, ethical, or caring as a society now? Do we make better decisions as a society now? The answer to those questions along with similar ones is, I think, a resounding "no". I'm talking about overall trends, not about specific things that anyone could cherry pick on either side. You will notice that I did not quote you; I paraphrased the substance of what you said. Your assertion, for instance, that you being attacked for your livelihood trumped Will being attacked for a mere "hobby", and that somehow made you more qualified to judge who really is an anti-Mormon was just ridiculous. I've lost a job because I was LDS, but I'd be rather embarrassed to claim that it gave me some kind of special status. As to a rush to judgment, I'm talking about this specific situation. I've observed Will for a few years and have come to a different conclusion about his actions, as I've explained in my other posts. I tend to be interested in what people's true motivations are, and that entails context and looking beyond and around specific statements at times.

Why? First, because the special status you think I was claiming, I wasn't. Second, because you weren't the one who took the public hit to his professional reputation as a direct and proximate result of the ongoing war rhetoric; I was.Regarding your "rush to judgment" comment, you make no sense. If you want to assert "reasonable minds can disagree", so be it. But I made no such "rush". I've been in the thick of this mess for a long enough time to reach a reasonable conclusion.Despite all that, let's just take a step back and let me ask you a question - Under what set of circumstances do you believe Will's comments are appropriate for a defender of this faith? Honestly, I see you defending the indefensible here and I don't understand it. So, instead of going after my character, why don't you help me understand the context that would make any of what Will has said acceptable? I happen to believe there are lines which should not be crossed. I believe I've articulated what those lines are over the years. I believe Will's behavior crosses those lines by a wide margin. Do you feel there are no lines? Help me understand your position.

Matthew 5:9 is what we should be following rather than heated war rhetoric.http://www.hennessey...k.us/sniper.htmI think that the best thing in any war is to choose where to do your battles. In this battle of wits, we are not dealing with unarmed opponents. And it it only increases their glee when they are able to get friends fighting among themselves. I do not think it wise to engage the enemy on their own turf nor respond in kind to insults, flames, etc.I do not think that Will has made enemies in the other camp. But maybe he has inflamed some of the enemies that were already there. He accepts that and is willing to deal with it.Right now I am waiting for the "new dawn" which he predicted; waiting to see the message he has, and not going to engage in shooting the messenger.Wally is never around when you really need him.Glenn

I don't think it's fair to count Cal's concerns as invalid because she has health problems.Yeah, these kind of comments are never acceptable and can get you a sexual harassment lawsuit if discussed at the office. Certainly, they shouldn't be discussed, even if in jest, by a priesthood holder. Also, for the record, Calmoriah is one of the most genuine and caring posters that I know. She certainly has done nothing to merit any attack. Anyways, off to see "Ice Age" with my daughters.
