I didn’t wasn’t to detract from the Belief thread so for Mis and Pogi:

Im in a national touring band for a tribute artist.  I also started my own tribute show this year, should be ramping up next year. We are booked in two theaters so that’s a start.

I have sat in with many local bands of every genre, mostly country but everything from bluegrass to heavy rock.

I play fiddle, mandolin, guitar, sing, and wrangle cats. :)

Regarding fiddle, mandolin, and guitar (acoustic?), and apologies if this is a stupid question -

Is your instrument normally amplified through the house PA system, or the band's PA system, or do you play through your own amp?

Want some kittens?  We're having a special...

I love tribute bands! I wish we could learn who your band is a tribute to, but maybe that would lead us to your real identity, and believe me, I don't want too many on here learning mine. But so cool that you are in a band, and that you are so talented!

No such thing as stupid question, i appreciate your interest.

I have used all sorts of technical equipment to amplify and my favorite and most durable is called “the band.”  It looks like a bicycle tire that wraps around the outside of the violin, a 1/4” cord goes into that and then into my LR Baggs preamp.  Then, a XLR cord goes out of my preamp and to the board, usually through a snake because we only really play theaters.  At a bar or other small venue I’ll go from my preamp into my Bose tower.

The fiddle generally doesn’t have enough signal to go directly into a speaker without a preamp. I do have an acoustic amp that I have used in the past but it’s so heavy- no real benefit to that since there’s usually a monitor anywhere I’m playing.

I want exactly zero kittens - lol

I’m sending you a PM.  I’m great as a musician, but my talents are limited :)

That's fantastic! I love classic style country (Willie Nelson just turned 90!). I can't really stand the country music on the radio, though. I love old timey and bluegrass, too, and can enjoy traditional bluegrass and jam-grass.

Thanks for making music!

I suddenly realized that your avatar is a "Pallas's cat" (aka the manul). Is there a particular reason for this? "Manol" is also the name of a river in Spain, but at the same time it is the word for "Pallas's cat" in Mongolian.

I understand that "Pallas's cat" cannot be domesticated.
