now one can literally access the original work with the click of a button –

But one would only do this is one is aware there is a different work that is the original.

Thereare no images contained in the online version for that article - only references to the original pieces, so I'm really not sure what else anyone expects the church to do at this point.”

If you click on the download or pdf file you see the images. My guess is many would do this in order to better understand what the author is talking about with the overlapping, which point is rather beautifully profound Imo.  A note at the top or bottom of the article with something like “painting had been altered to match past publication standards”  would work great Imo.  I am very glad to read this is no longer a practice.

Let's hear from the artist.

Composers or performers often quote other composers in their music…mostly in jazz and classical.  In the former it’s almost always a tribute to the other, in the latter it can be to honor, to ridicule, or just plain old theft. Happens all the time.

I had regular access to the Library of Congress as a kid (mom worked in DC). I used to go there looking for obscure books I heard about. Basically just to see if they existed.

I didn't have many friends.

What has changed? 😉

What if someone took our Freiburg paintings and took away the ahistorical bodybuilder builds on all of the guys because they think it makes the painting look too homoerotic?

I left friends and knowledge behind and went to Florida.

I didn't know this was a thing. I had seen the download option before, but I assumed it would just pull down the text for offline viewing. See, less than one full week into the new year and I've already learned something new. :)

They don’t make it clear.  And since they are constantly changing format on the website, I bet there are lots not familiar with the option.  Frustration at not finding images anymore included with text even when extremely relevant led me to start pushing everything I saw just in case.  It is a smart way to save money and effort and digital space as they can use one page for all the individual articles instead of the hassle of adding the art to each article’s webpage as well as having the whole magazine on line as they have done in the past after a certain date…just wish they would do all the older magazines this way as well, but a better label would have been nice.
