It is unfortunate we use the term “unworthy” when what we really mean is “unauthorized” or “unprepared”. After all a person may be a member in good standing in every way, but because they are 16, they are “unworthy” to use your word to stand in the circle and bless a baby. Or someone could be completely worthy and have attended the temple one day, but the next is “unworthy” because their recommend is expired. They get their bishop and stake President to interview them and sign the recommend the next day and the day after they are back in the temple. Nothing in them has changed. It makes no sense to label them unworthy and yet they cannot enter the temple (and I don’t have a problem with that as God is a god of order and has directed us to have such a structure for granting admittance in place. This reminds me asking a suspected spy during WWII "who won the World Series last year" to test his "Americaness" This dude ain't talkin' da talk. He got a funny accent. 🤔 As a historical side note, there were some Americans soldiers who were asked that question and did not legitimately know. I, for one, couldn’t tell you who won the World Series last year. Link to comment

My experience is that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints bristle when it is deemed a denomination. I have never heard a member of the church use that term (denomination) to identify themselves. It is something I would say (I try not to because I don't want to make my friends bristle) , but not a member. So the use of that term by our new friend makes me wonder if he really is a member or not? Perhaps it was simply a slip of the keyboard. Odd. I've never known a member to have a hard time with the term. Even in my institute class about different christian denominations. I would guess you have come across the rare few that have a problem with it or maybe they just didn't know what it meant? I know many people (not just Latter-day Saints) don't know there is a difference between religion and denomination. Perhaps that was the problem? 4 Link to comment

The preface to Mormon Doctrine says: "For the work itself, I assume sole and full responsibility Salt Lake City, Utah, Jun 1, 1958. Bruce R. McConkie" 1 Link to comment
