No mention made of what is normal. I recall reading on another thread where the poster was disappointed that the church wasn't doing much. So lets keep in mind it's the members and church. 🙂 At least they said this when they were on the news the other day, the church spokesperson. That has always impressed me when they say it comes from the members and their donations.

The corollary to this, of course, is that the Church’s humanitarian collective efforts stem from the contributions of individuals; ergo, I reiterate what I’ve said before: If anyone thinks the Church is not doing enough, perhaps that person should step up and donate so the Church can do more. It is far too frequent that people think of "the Church" as the apostles and presidency. They have authority over the purse strings, but all that controls was given by members. 3
Tacenda Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 Saw this suggested elsewhere, and fully agree. If Pres Nelson put out the message that those that can should wear masks, we'd probably eradicate or nearly eradicate Covid-19 in Utah and surrounding areas that have a lot of members.

I am not so sure as I wouldn't be surprised if some thought it was bowing to political pressure as I have heard comments about shutting down church meetings. However, it would definitely increase numbers significantly and depending on how he did it ( if he said he agreed based on his medical as well as pastoral background, if he made an extended appeal rather than just a bare bones announcement, if it was video in the news as well as email sent to members), it could have a huge effect. 2

I just visited a ward members facebook page. Since this all started she has posted multiple things against wearing a mask, which really bothered me. Today when I was there her latest thing was a video showing your oxygen levels don't go down and you should wear a mask. I thought, "does she understand what she is saying? Did she do a complete about face?" So I searched farther and found that recently she posted something about President Nelson saying we should follow local rules and recommendations on covid. So we should listen to our prophet and wear the mask. I seriously would not ever expected the complete change. So what he said IS working to some extent. I just wish we didn't need a prophet saying something. 4
