I'm sure the whole team might be in quarantine now. Sorry about the title--it won't let me use capitals. "Over an hour later, the league announced the season was on hiatus due to a Utah Jazz player testing positive with coronavirus. Multiple reports said the player was Rudy Gobert." rodheadlee Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 I have a question. If you get the virus and recover, are you now immune to it?

bsjkki Posted March 12, 2020 Author Posted March 12, 2020 Really good advice from a nurse. Things to have on hand if you get the virus. It's not all about the TP. "Things you should *actually* buy ahead of time (Erm, not sure what the obsession with toilet paper is?): Kleenex, Acetaminophen (Tylenol) in 350 mg tablets, Ibuprofen (Advil) in 200 mg tablets, Mucinex, Robitussin or DayQuil/NyQuil, whatever your cough medicine of choice is." She also said to buy a humidifier. If you have asthma, make sure have a current inhaler and an extra.
Tacenda Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 (edited) I'm starting to believe the preppers were/are smart! Also, saw this comment, "I'd like to go back to the days of worrying that my grass is too long". I'm sure we're all thinking the same thing. Godspeed everyone, I've now joined the ranks of those that are panicking. Hoping I wouldn't go there, maybe need to close down all media. Thinking that might be smart, I know how devastating this will be for the economy as well, but worse the loss of life. So hoping others won't do as I am and want to hibernate when they aren't ill. MorningStar Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 This is crazy! Our school is probably going to close for 4 to 6 weeks. Praying we can feed our family of 7 throughout this. I bought 25 pounds of flour and 25 pounds of rice plus some other things like two large boxes of pancake mix. I feel like our kids will need comfort food to have some sense of normalcy. 4

There have been cases of reinfection but that occurs rarely with lots of viral diseases just like some people will get chicken pox twice. Generally though if you have had it you should not get it again. So far the mutation rate is low. There are two dominant strains and it is suspected that they are similar enough that getting one should leave you safe from catching the other but there is still not a ton of data on that.. I would still practice hygiene if you recover though and not tempt reinfection if it can be avoided. Also, those with compromised immune systems are at a much higher risk of reinfection so they should avoid it even more.
snowflake Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 I survived Y2K, global overpopulation, the peak oil bust, global warming, climate change, global cooling in the 70's, ZIKA, MERS, influenza and SARS pandemics, and I am currently managing to survive the global climate crisis....now the corona virus?!?!?!?!?! Panic!!!!!!!!!!
Lemuel Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Two Jazz players--Mitchell too: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/28891354/donovan-mitchell-tests-positive-coronavirus

I have to go up to the States tomorrow. I hope they let me back into Mx Sunday. I have to go up once a month to get perscriptions filled that I can't get filled here. + 1

Lemuel Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 I tell ya, if Karl Malone had gotten corona, he wouldn't have missed a single game.

I remember the flak he caught for being among those who worried openly about the possibility that Magic Johnson would transmit AIDS to other players.
